Buying Advice any advice

I am currently looking at two different models a 2210 and a 2310. I cannot decide which. I will not be using this tractor for much except grass cutting about 10 acres. the finding a distributor in Louisiana is like pulling teeth with a pair of pliers. I have found a few that are helful out of La. They are Hoye in Texas( I would have to buy sight unseen but he will deliver for a great price) Cas tractor in Georgia( about 600 miles would have to go get (gas $3.00. gal) and Fredericks In Alabama (about 560 miles, gas same price). Remembering a limited budget. and that I am not mechanically inclined .here are the quotes if anyone can beat let me know. CAS 2210 w /disk ,cutter and 16' tandem trailer Fredericks 2210 w/rops ,tiller ,cutter,trailer,$5959. Hoye 2310w/ tiller,cutter 5500 add rops $6100 (delivered), Fredericks 2310w/ rops,cutter tiller trailer $7300. It seems the more research I am doing the more I get confused.

Is price all that matters to you? If it is, the decision is easy. If it isn't, then what does matter? Quality? Dealer integrity? Dealer responsiveness to problems? If these things matter, how many references from each potential seller have you communicated with? If you would come to what is essentially an anonymous forum and ask opinions, why not ask each seller for references (especially some several years old--most people are happy at first)?

Good luck. And get references. Did I mention to ask for references?

Where are you at in La? I purchased a 2210 from LMTC about 2 months ago and so far I am well pleased with my purchase. If you are in the Loranger area give me a holler and you can check out my tractor. I will let you cut my grass too .

Take passga55 upon his offer and try before you buy. I'm partial to the 2cyl. models, so the 2210 would be my choice. Less moving parts also, if you mechanicaly challenged. If you are only cutting grass, why not drop the tiller and disk to cover the gas ?

Also, have you contacted RCO Tractor. I also bought one from them some months ago. They are good people to deal with.

Yes, that individual would be me. And I did sell the YM2000 that I bought from RCO Tractor. I had a overheating problem that was very easily taken care of (after a lot of frustration). RCO paid for everything, but I did the labor. They would have done it but it would have been too much trouble for them and me to get the tractor back to Texas and Louisiana. It wasn't nothing to take the radiator off and put it back on.

For what its worth, I didn't buy my YM2500 from them because they didn't have one ready at the time and also because I found that the shipping was a little high.

I have heard many good things about the "UTDA Certified" Yanmar tractors that come from Fredericks Equipment. Thats one reason that I bought one. Didn't know that I was gonna have all this trouble.

Well, my hydraulic lift has not been right since I bought it. It leaks down fast when the tractor's engine is killed. I had to flush the transmission/hydraulics 3 TIMES (got expensive) to get all the (very) filthy fluid out. I hauled it bak and forth to the dealer for 3 WEEKENDS IN A ROW AND IT STILL DIDN'T GET FIXED! I ended up just giving up on it.

What I'm saying is, buy from a good dealer. I can say that in my experience, I was happier with the 'Vietnam' reconditioned tractor's quality than I am with the UTDA's (if I may) tractor's quality, but would buy from both "reconditioners" again. Thats the truth.

From the 2 different sources I have bought from/ dealt with, I have to say I would have went with RCO Tractor again- Excellent people to do business with that has a good product. And now, If I'm not mistaken I think that they are even selling a few UTDA Certified tractors now.

RCO has at least 1 UTDA tractor. They are not a UTDA dealer and could not be held to UTDA policy.

As LMTC said, check a dealers references. Also check past posts by members of this site for credibility.

Well Travis, I bought from Tom directly & while I had a couple front seals that I replaced I have had no real problems with my tractor . Tom ,Danny & Paul were very helpful when I replaced those parts. My tach. went bad & they sent me a brand new tach. I have been very happy / pleased the way I was treaded by Tom & his staff.

Did you buy your tractor from Fredricks? The answer is NO (at least according to one of your previous posts). You are at best only repeating what the seller or someone else told you....what you know is where YOU bought it, and the individual or business who sold it to you is accountable to you for any problems or resolutions. No one else is accountable to you, so quit name dropping.

RCO is selling UTDA certified tractors? That can't be. They MAY have bought some tractors that had BEEN UTDA certified by a UTDA dealer, but they cannot, by definition, guarantee that they are selling UTDA certified tractors. Only a UTDA dealer/member is authorized to guarantee the certification. You will note (ok, maybe you won't as you still don't seem to separate feelings and facts) that on their page listing a supposed UTDA tractor it does not say the tractor is UTDA certified... .it says "Yanmar YM1610 D w/UTDA Safety Equipment" and when one looks at the pictures there that tractor has no overrunning coupler, which is required by UTDA. Furthermore, as a UTDA dealer I assure you the tractor pictured there is missing numerous decals required for UTDA certification.

Finally, read the UTDA site. Nowhere is there any assertion of quality. UTDA is about safety. Safety. The use of safety items and features available for these tractors, on all of them....not just some. Quality is an issue that will always be more dependent on the original source of the tractor, the processing dealer, and the selling dealer, than on anything else.

I urge you again to take some time to understand the difference between facts and your perceptions and feelings about things. The list of posts wherein you have contradicted yourself grows only because you continue to feed it.

I was just stating my experience between the 2 Yanmar tractor dealers I have dealt with, giving the poster my advice/opinions/experience, or what have ya' to the original poster- just as he requested. Its plain and simple.

No, I have NOT 'dealt' with Fredrick's Equipment. I never said that I did. I have spoke with Tom on the phone, and he seems like a very nice guy. All I know is that my tractor was "processed/reconditioned/whatever" at Fredrick's Equipment. I have the proof. As stated in a previous post, it has the sticker on the air filter housing cover. If I could post a picture of it, I would. But 1), I don't have a camera, and 2), I'm sure that the people on here who has had any dealings with Frederick's Equipment knows what I'm talking about anyway.
