Any beekeepers here

   / Any beekeepers here #31
Good to connect in the bee community. Extension office had mite resistant queens to try. My friend got one, free, and put it in one of four hives he had on our farm. It really took off. Almost 300# honey from that one hive. Filled a super in days! So many bees. Took lots of work keeping up with that one hive. Made as much honey as the other three combined. Swarmed and lost most of that vigor the next year. Honeybees are important and there is help available.

Probably the new queen was hybrid of that free queen good genetics, diluted with whatever was around.

Many years ago, i got a colony out of a big softwood, my parents wanted removed. They were a bit hot, but very productive. They weren't real bad, but i could always count on getting hit by one or two, and took to wearing head gear when working them.

Now looking to build a double deep langstroth style horizontal hive with detachable double frames, so i can fit them in a double frame extractor i have.
