G'day we use a small elec pump that we got from a go kart store to fill our race bikes it runs on a couple of 'd' size batteries and pumps about 20lt a minute i think it was about $80 aus, been using it for about three years with methanol and has not given any probs apart from a couple of sets of batteries, not sure if this is what you are looking for but think it would work with diesel just fine.

Well I ended up choosing the low tech, low cost solution by getting 2 cans, a 5 gallon and 2 1/2 gallon. Just pour gas from the 2 1/2 gallon can into the tractor. But now during bush hogging season, a tank lasts me about a day, so I find myself driving into town every other day to fill up the cans, about 15-20 min each way. Time I could spend on the tractor. So now I'll be reviewing all your good suggestions again to find the next low tech solution to keeping more gas on the premises.

A few more 5 gallon cans is your most versatile, lowest cost upgrade until you get up to more than ~50 gallons total.

I'm about the same, a full tank will last me the best part of a day. Oddly enough, I consider "having to go get fuel" a blessing. It gives me a break from seat time, a chance to drive something really comfortable with AC and heat (in season).

We are getting a tank for our M8540, but will continue to use 5 gallon jugs for the 5030 and 2660.

Funny how when one thing gets bigger, so does all the support equipment.

Actually our M8540 is the same size tractor it replaced; age is what has "changed"

I guess that's the justification for all the family SUVs I see parked in front of McMansions.
And here I thought it was because these moms had to drive through untamed wilderness to get to the grocery store & soccer practice... :confused2:

Can't you get home delivery ?
I get 55 gallon of off road red dyed tax free fuel. delivered free of extra chg. when I need fuel.

The place near me requires a 100 gallon minimal purchase so I get 55 disel and 55 gas for my mower. At the current rate its going to take me about 2 years to use all 55 gallons od disel. I better get some stabil. Make sure you get winter formula if you live where it is cold. Works in winter and summer without issue.

1*I was getting 55 gallons of diesel delivered at a time but when I called them up back in June to get my 55 gallon drum refilled I discovered they had went out of business.
I found another supplier but they won't deliver less than 100 gallons.
I see you are getting 2 different fuels to meet the 100 gallon minimal purchase .
How long does the 55 gallons of gas last you for the mower ?
How do you handle the storing and the transfer ot both the diesel and the gasoilne?

CurlyDave - that's just what I did, got 2 more 5 gal cans so now have a total of 17.5 gallons. It was enough to finish my bush hog job. Took about 22 hours time.
