Lifting a heavy object like a fuel container to fuel a tractor... hmmm. A tractor that's got a FEL!

Go to hardware store and get about 10 ft of clear tubing, a squeeze bulb, and a small ball valve and hose barb fittings. Attach squeeze bulb and valve to one end of tubing. Put other end into container thru spout. Put container in the FEL and lift it up above the hood. Stop the engine, start the siphon, and fuel away :)

1*I was getting 55 gallons of diesel delivered at a time but when I called them up back in June to get my 55 gallon drum refilled I discovered they had went out of business.
I found another supplier but they won't deliver less than 100 gallons.
I see you are getting 2 different fuels to meet the 100 gallon minimal purchase .
How long does the 55 gallons of gas last you for the mower ?
How do you handle the storing and the transfer ot both the diesel and the gasoilne?

My ZTR uses about 3 gallons per mow so it lasts about one season, sometimes I have to fill a 5 gallon can to finish up in fall if we don't get an early freeze. The big deal for me was saving the 40-60 cents a gallon in taxes.

I have two 12V pump that I just hook up to the tractor battery to fuel it. The pumps sit on top the cans and use the built in bung hole in the lid.

edit

My neighbor does something similar only no pumps he built a pallet that the cans lay on their side on and then he just sets it up higher than the tractor and gravity feeds it. My concern with that design was one day i come out to a 55 gallon puddle of diesel fuel.

Here is my fuel station. The barrel sits on a platform with casters. I don't have the fuel delivered so the chains are used to lift the barrel on a trailer.
I installed a four prong receptacle on the back of the tractor. One prong has constant 12V on it. One prong has 12V switched from the operator platform (used for a sprayer) and one prong has ground connected to it. When fueling I just plug the fuel pump cable in the receptacle, put pistol in the tank and start the pump. The pistol has automatic shut off.

Is that gas or diesel?

This problem of fueling is one of the many reason I bought a Branson which has the fuel tank where it should be, under the deck and so easy to fill. As a poster one said of a Branson back hoe mount which I'll restate here. "Not all tractors are so inconvenient" ......to fill.

boy have we over analyzed a serious problem. How to store and fuel or tractors. Some pretty good ideas though. Make an A frame that will hold two 55 gallon drums (100 gallon min.) put on a hose with a squeeze trigger for gravity feed w/holes to lock mechanism(no big puddles).

I've found that tractors with low mounted fuel tanks have less ground clearance and are more liable to serious damage than tractors with the fuel tank on top. My M5040 is easy to fuel, but I won't take that tractor where I used to take my M4700 (top fuel).
