It is on my brother's pit. All I can say it grills very well. It provides even heat so it is good especially for fish and shrimps. Since it doesn't get extremely hot for cooking it doesn't crack. It turns and moves vertically on the post. If it gets too greasy or has something burned to it he just scrapes it off by a metal spatula. No need to wash it. He has it perhaps 10 years already.
It works very similar to Aussie barbie I suppose but it provides even more even heat.
The round wire thing around the fire is a support for grilling forks if you prefer to grill chicken or sausage directly in the fire (sausages or brats taste better that way).
