Having trouble with the internet at home, but I'm baffled and don't know what to do at this point.

I have Verizon cell 4G LTE. On the laptop, IE won't even connect to homepage (Yahoo). Firefox will, and loads Yahoo just fine. I can click on and load any Yahoo article, and do searches. But as soon as I try to open an outside page it times out. The IPad does the exact same thing, only Yahoo will load. I brought both the laptop and IPad to work, and they worked fine on the WiFi here. Took them back home, and nothing. It makes me think it's an internet problem, yet I can't say the internet doesn't work. Has anyone dealt with something like this?

Thanks

I am not an expert but it sounds like you have a router problem. What generally works for me is to plug everything, router and modem, wait a few minutes, turn it on and try again.

What do you mean by you have Verizon Cell 4G LTE? Do you have a WiFi Hotspot or are you using your phone as a Hotspot?

I have no idea about causes, but I have Charter cable and I, too, periodically have to unplug power to the router, as I did day before yesterday, but in my case it's no connection to the Internet, not a partial connection. And I even have to unplug power to the modem occasionally. But such things are usually no ore often that once every 2 or 3 months.

Those pages that you see could be cached. So your seeing something that was saved to your computer. Try what Deere Dude said, unplug the router, wait a few then plug it back in. This fixes a lot of problems.

Guys, I'm not sure he even has a router since he said he is using Verizon 4G LTE.

Verizon 4G LTE is a service they offer rural customers, but it’s nearly impossible to find on their website. There’s a canister style antenna mounted to my house, and a cable runs to a router inside the house. It uses cell towers.
I had thought about the pages being cached, but they’re up to date, and if I click on a Yahoo link it loads fine. I’m going to try unplugging and plugging back in. Thanks for the ideas.

Edit: I think I had the name wrong, though it’s the only thing I’ve ever seen on my paperwork. But I think it’s called Homefusion Broadband. Here's a link that shows the router and canister.

Can you ping 8.8.8.8 ?
Thats a google server.
If you can, the problem is likely a browser or firewall setting and not an equipment issue.

I’m at work right now, so I’ll have to check it out tonight.
But to be honest, I don’t know what that means.

Ping is a DOS Command, the procedure can be different depending on the Operating System you have. Keep in mind all of the Internet sites you go to are assigned an IP address like 8.8.8.8. But so you don't have to remember IP addresses a system called DNS resolves the name to an IP address. You can also ping google.com if you so desire.
