I have a feeling after you go to the link and read about all 6 you well enjoy having it there. Also you might know some there kin.

I have a small cemetery on my place that had nothing left but some iron posts stuck in the ground. I have done a lot of genealogy research on my family and was able to use those skills to find the family that was buried there. When my wife passed away I was a able to get the monument company that was making hers to also make one out of a defective stone they had for this family with just the family name engraved on it. I did not want in the future for this site to be lost so it is marked now. I sleep better.

TVA must have been exempt from those laws when they built the TVA Dam system in several Southern States. They moved many a gravesite and buried many others under hundreds of feet of water.
I agree. TVA pushed many reluntant landowners off their farms and land under the guize of :"Emminent Domain". They were supposed to be paid Market Value, but many were paid only "Pennies on the Dollar". The Nation was in such a hurry to build more hydroelectric facilities, to aid in the War effort, that many normal procedures were cast aside. One only has to look at Oak Ridge. In the area where I was raised, there are 6 TVA dams within a 100 mile radius. On Cherokee Lake in Hawkins County, Tennessee, the tops of silos can still be seen at low water levels. BTW, the TVA system proved invaluable in allowing the affected areas to finally enter the Twentieth Century. I feel sorry for the landowners though. Many lives were disrupted.

My farm has an Indian burial site... Didn't know it until after we bought the place. There is only one actual marker .. Old timers tell me in the day there where several bios de arc huts through out the 2 acre site .. A great fire destroyed them ... It must be known or published somewhere I have had folks stop and ask about if they could look it over cause they were looking for kin

Here in rural Virginia it is not uncommon to have an old family graveyard on your property. We found this one buried in the woods on the far back corner of our land. No trail or road to it, obviously lost to memory. Lot's of history here, unfortunately we can only ponder.

If I remember right, you're in Henry County. I've scoured many maps and been involved in multiple searches through the woods (with landowner permission) in an attempt to find a forgotten family cemetery in Henry County. We've narrowed it down to ~5 acres of woods but no luck finding anything. The Bassett Historical center has a ton of genealogy material, including at least one book listing cemeteries, locations and inscriptions. I suspect this cemetery would be listed in that book.

We have an old family cemetery on our land. It's the family that originally settled the farm and owned it from 1820-1970. Readable headstones date 1830-1948. We have had a few family members contact us and come visit the cemetery.

Ours is excluded on our deed. I understand that the township is responsible for maintaining it now, but they have never been around.

My wife's niece lives in Franklin Tennessee. We visited there back in the late 70's, and they mentioned their land had a small cemetery on the property, so I had to investigate. There were 7 or 8 graves there, the majority of which dated to the Civil War era. From the sex and ages, it looked as if an entire family had died in a short span of 2 to 3 years.

That is a great idea for a rainy day. From the looks of the cemetery, I don't think anyone has touched it in many years. You can barely walk to it. Our plot plan did show a cemetery, but this one is quite a distance away. There are also other, older headstones, that can barely be read. We plan on cutting a path to it and fixing it up. After all, they took care of this land before me, and deserve the care now. By the way, don't you just love Henry County? We've only been here 7 or 8 months, but it has quickly become home.

Did you look at the link I posted? If you click on the cemetery in blue it gives you all 6 names and a little info about each one. 2 of there kids are in another cemetery. It maybe can help with the names on the other stones.
