What diesel additives do you have at your rack?
We have a premium diesel product called All Weather Supreme that has three additives. An all purpose additive (not sure what that means), a cetane improver and a cold pour improver. All diesel is treated with a cetane improver that is continuously blended in as the product goes to storage.

I would guess the all-purpose additive is a lubricity additive. Looks like your additives are pretty much the same as around here.

Back in 81, I bought a condemmed no nmae station. Rebuilt it to code, sold no name for 5 or so months and converted over to Chevron. When Chevron signed on, I had to change all the colors and the rep did stop by ocassionally to take a gallon of gas back with him. To prove I wasn't still buying from the no name.. Chevron, at that time was loading the gs up with "Techron". I can't remember all it was suppose to do, but the driver dumped in 5 gallons for 9500 in regular unleaded.

DUH! In post #11 where I wrote "All diesel is treated with a cetane improver that is continuously blended in as the product goes to storage", it should say lubricity not cetane.

Tell us about ag diesel (dyed). Is it the same product as regular diesel or a different grade of diesel?

The off-road diesel sold by the refinery I work for is the same diesel sold for on-road use but it has red dye blended in on the way to storage. You can also buy our premium diesel with the red dye for off-road use. The dyed regular diesel has the primium additives injected in as it is loaded into the tanker hauling the fuel. The only difference between on-road and off-road at our facility is the red dye, and the taxes of course!

While we are getting the real answers,
What differance is there between heating oil and diesel?
My tractor does not complain when run on heating oil.

Biggest difference is the amount of sulphur! Heating oil is still 500 ppm.

Are they phasing out production of the low (as opposed to ultra-low) sulfur fuel? I would think the added complexity of distribution and possibility of cross contamination would mean we'd eventually be getting ULSD for heating oil as well.

I would imagine a lot of end retailers wouldn't want to keep multiple products on hand and separate fleets of trucks delivering the products, contaminating loads of ULSD when they load it into a truck that has been hauling LSD.

I was told federal law prohibits carrying ULSD in a tanker compartment that carried gasoline or high sulphur fuel oil previously without decontamination. Most carriers are using dedicated tankers or compartment of tankers.
