for just birds, my 1 watt blue laser scares them so bad, they don't come back, and can be waved around to get the whole flock, you just have to be careful there's no aircraft flying nearby. it's a Felony if you point it at an aircraft or it's flight path.. I can chase a whole flock as far away as I can see with that.. and I don't have to worry where a round is going to hit if I miss a bird..
