Any reason to NOT get the wider trailer?

In Wisconsin it seems every summer is orange cones season! two hundred miles south of me in Milwaukee it's coming up near me now CRAP!.

Great story nic, made me laugh.

Which reminded me of another reason for not getting a wider trailer. If you think you may loan out out someday, some people forget to easily they are pulling a trailer and that it is as wide as a semi-tractor trailer.

Have you seen the small SUV pulling the 102" wide landscape trailer with the left side trailer tires riding on the wrong side of the center line? It makes a guy get real busy looking for a place to go to avoid it and the ditch.

You could do like me. After buying the trailer realize it's 2" too wide to fit through the gate.

102" really isn't that wide. I guess I saw that because I drive a dually and it is 96" wide. I never really thought about it or noticed it much. 102" is the norm for me.

2 of my trailers are 102" and the other is 114". Never thought of any of hem as wide other than the 9.5' one. I just use caution.

I think 102 inches is to wide for a someone who seldom ever has the need for a trailer and has no money invested in it. If I had a 5x10 trailer that was around 85" wide, I would probably loan it out to a few friends, but never my car hauler.

Depends on the state - a quick scan of AAA shows:

DC - yes
Hawaii - 9 feet
NM, NY, TN, TX, UT - 8 feet plus appurtenances.

Interesting,

Indiana is listed as 8.5 feet plus appurtenances.
INDIANA
Total length: 60 feet (excluding boat transporters); trailer length: 28 feet 6 inches; motor home length: 45 feet; width: 8 feet 6 inches (for motor homes, excluding appurtenances up to the width of rear view mirrors); height: 13 feet 6 inches.

Is the 114" wide trailer a boat trailer or some other special case??

When a 14K equipment trailer is 83 inches between fenders, what would be the overall width at the widest point (I'm assuming this would be to the outside edges of the fenders)?

It is dang close to 102" overall width.

That AAA is wrong. Virtually all semis are 102" wide and they run in all states. I have never heard of a state limiting you to 8'.
