I was at the local mall the other day and I was walking down the main concourse and came to a fairly large display of Club Car and Star Ev utility vehicles. I had some time kill so I struck up a conversation with the salesman. I was skeptical at first but the longer I listened the more impressed I became. First I looked at the club cars and found they have a couple models that come with Kubota Diesel engines. They are 4 wheel drive, have front and rear independent suspension, and look well built.
Then I started looking at the Star EV units. They have electric motors and have one unit that is street legal. I questioned the fact they only came with either a 5.5 or 6.7 hp motor. That didn't seem like much to me but the salesman explained the DC motors are capable of reaching some high torque numbers. The controllers are rated for 350 or 400 amps. That is a lot of amps. They have one unit that is street legal and will go 60 miles on a charge. You could use it in town since the top speed is only 25 mph.
I am curious if anyone on the forum owns one of these? Also, I wad shocked to find they were very reasonably priced. ( started around $8000)

Our first UTV was made by Club Car for Bobcat. Two cylinder gas engine. 163 hours when traded in.

Traded for the diesel December 2009

Club Car makes the Rustler, sold by New Holland. They are very well built, on an aluminum frame.

Never noticed the Star EV, looks like a lifted golf car. Off Road

I sure like my Polaris Ranger EV! :D
