Any suggestions for replacing the lousy seat on a Branson?

After many years, Branson finally saw the light and the 20 series now has arguably the very most comfortable seat of any open station compact tractor. But it is expensive, probably because Branson buys it somewhere, marks it up to the dealer, we mark it up to the customer, etc. If you can find a more direct route to buy one it would save some $$ over buying from a dealer.

The old Branson seat wasn't very comfortable, and the parts underneath would get loose and worn and that just made it worse.

A comfy seat makes a big difference.

"The old Branson seat wasn't very comfortable, and the parts underneath would get loose and worn and that just made it worse." Dave that is definitely an understatement!!. But after 900+ hours of holding me up I guess I would get worn also. I will check out a number of the suggestions here and see what I can find. I am glad the seats have been improved.

Neal, good luck with the PTO problem. I hope it is just and adjustment. Thanks Willie Jones

52wej, it's find of ironic that Branson went from about the worst seat possible to the very best in the industry. They were slow learners, but when they took action they didn't do it halfway.

Yes it is ironic, but the rest of the tractor was and is tops in my view. Willie Jones

I have an update on my original posting. After putting 20 hours on my new machine I found that on big bumps the seat bottoms out and it jars my back.....the seat itself is well made and very comfortable.

Long history: I have been fighting the hard seat suspension on lawn mowers for many years, including investing $200 for a suspension seat for my DR 52" combo ZT. Didn't work on that so I put it on my 44" Fastrak Z and it didn't work on that either. Last year I was at a TSC and they had a Cub Cadet conventional mower, about 26" for a size sitting out front and it had these large diameter, tall, very soft coil springs under the seat. I got on and bounced up and down and gee they felt great. I get on the www and find their site and with the model I order 3 pair for 3 of my mowers; 2 ZTs and a 26" conventional Husqvarna.

When I got to noticing the bouncing bottoming on my 2400, I said this isn't going to get it. So I got 2 of these CC springs off a mower and on the Branson removed the rubber stops under the seat and replaced them with the Cub Cadet springs. Very very nice. For about 20 bucks or less you may solve your problem as I did. Try it. If they don't work, put them on your lawn mowers. I guarantee you they will soften the ride greatly.
Do you recall what bolts you secured them with - i can find plenty of the springs you suggest but not finding hard ware ? thank you

i don't recall if you have to make an account to order from them but we have had good luck here using sparex.com to get seats for our tractors that are both comfortable and not to hard on the wallet, the only catch is what they have in stock changes frequently so you have to keep an eye out, but they also have seasonal sales as well that will have some really great deals in them but again it varies but tis worth a look for you guys if you may need it.

I bought a suspension platform from seat warehouse and used the factory seat on my zt and it made a huge difference, I think it was 140 bucks .
