Hey folks!

I just came a across a deal for some engines that might make decent repower options for Groundmaster 7x, 5x, and 3xx series. They're parallel twin (inline two cylinder), air cooled diesels. They're rated for 20hp max at 3600rpm, 19.6 at 3,000rpm, and 18.8hp constant duty.

That's a 600rpm sweep @ 200rpm above the Mitsubishi K3D in 325D.

I'm already planning on installing one in my Groundsmaster 72. If you guys are interested, I might be able to get a couple more for around $650.

Hi fellas,

Just wanted to let y'all know that I have some 300 series Groundsmaster parts for sale.

I have-

- a 72" Recycler mulching deck. I used it for half a season. The baffles are worn thin and scarred, but still functional. Tensioner pulley and belt have less than 30hrs on them. Can't seem to find the plastic belt covers, so I'm listing it without. Spindles spin freely.

- a 72" side discharge deck. It's from a Groundsmaster 72 parts tractor. Spindles are free, but one blade seems to come loose under load, for some reason. I switched to the flail deck before trying to diagnose/fix the issue.

- a Groundsmaster 72 parts tractor. No engine. Has everything else (lift cylinder, control valve, steering sector complete to rear axle, transmission, front drive axle, radiator, PTO driveline, tires, wheels, cowl/hood, and tool box.)

All reasonable offers accepted.

Located in Bland, VA.
Zip code 24315

10min North of Wytheville on I-77.

I don't have a Groundmaster but I do have a son who's looking for a small 18-20hp air cooled diesel to repower an old Deere F680 ZTR. Do you have any dimensions on the engines that you could post?

Front tire size?

I have four manuals for the Groundsmaster 300 series... The service manual, parts manual, and owners manual.

The service manual has no recommendations for tire size... just inspection and service.

One owners manual says 23x8.50x12-4 ply, the other says 23x10.50x12-6 ply.

The parts manual says 23x10.50x12.

I just thought I'd ask what tires you guys are using. Mine are in need of replacement, and I'm having a hard time finding tires with acceptable load rating. The highest rating I've found are 4 ply 530lb rating at 30 psi.

One of the 325D parts machines a 1994, has Armstrong Super Turf 23x8.50x12-2 ply, made in USA, 10 psi, no load rating on the sidewall.

The 4WD 325D has Titan Multi Trac made in USA, 23x10.50x12-6 ply, 32 psi max. Also no load rating on the sidewall. Both are very old tires, foreign made tires don't last very long now.

What load rating are you looking for?

Given most of the weight is on the front axle, and it weighs over 2,000lbs with the flail deck... I'm looking in the 6 ply range. I noticed ply count isn't everything. I found 6 ply with a 500lb rating, and a 4 ply with a 580lb... go figure.

Not this time. There were 2 crates of these engines for sale. When I posted, the bid we placed was $600 per engine. The winner bought them for over $700 per unit. I couldn't justify paying the same price as a nice refurbished Kubota 1105 liquid cooled engine.

Just an update regarding previous posts about tires...

Our local Rural King had Carlisle's AT101 ("chevron" or "bar" tread) in 24x12×12 4-ply on clearance... $109 with wheels and valve stems. THEY FIT! barely... but they fit. You wouldn't want to limp these back on the trailer if you had a flat.

My unit had the standard wheels, and I was looking to upgrade to the 10.50's anyway... so a win-win in my book.

The only thing I'm worried about is the extra inch of drive tire changing the front/rear offset speed of the 4wd. I found out while swapping the trans, that my unit is equipped with the two-way rear drive clutch. If it were the one-way, I wouldn't be worried... as it's designed to engage only when the front drive slips and overruns the rear traction speed. With the two-way, the clutch assembly works in both directions, but I'm not sure what the offset speed is. There's a shade over 4% difference in traction speed with the 24 inch tires, so I'm hoping the clutch is set for at least 5% over-/under-run.

I guess we'll see.

Thanks for all the help fellas!
