Another vote for Seal All. Gasoline and oil resistant.. you can buy it at Dollar General. I know there's 1 of those close by, as they are everywhere

If it goes South on you and you end up with a mess that leaks try AUTOMOTIVE WINDSHIELD URETHANE Thats the same stuff your windshield is embedded in so you know it's tough. I have in the past filled a few small cracks in gas can using it and the stuff held for years. Just don't get the big caulking tube for a small job as once opened it sets up in the tube within a week no matter what you do to save the rest. They sell it in Auto Zone and such in blister packs for about $7 a small tube. That's my go to solution for bonding impossible items like stainless steel to plate glass. The rougher the better though for locking it onto plastic. Just scrape up with a file edge or screwdriver.

In total agreement with your method.
Have done that often but I use a polyurathane caulking (basically same thing) that they sell called FLEXTRA, only it is much more affordable. (sells in the $5.00 range in Canada for the regular caulking gun size)

Agreed. I used a soldering iron to melt the plastic gas tank on my pressure washer couple years ago and it is still holding today. Once I melted the affected area I filled it in with a plastic zip tie. That worked nicely since they are made with polyethylene. I found this solution on YouTube. I am not that smart.

Most zip ties are nylon, IME...Not sure how that ever worked...
