I have been told that paint wont stick to metal roofing unless you acid etch it first….but i havnt tried it to be sure.
You may have to etch unpainted galvanized steel to paint it, depending on what you are using.

Painted metal cannot be etched.

It must be cleaned. And, should be either sanded, or primed with the right type of primer for adhesion, if it's shinny paint.

I would brush and roll it, before I would buy a cheap sprayer just for that little job.

I used Rustoleum Massey Ferguson Grey Implement paint. I diluted it 10:1 with Naphtha. The sprayer worked great - Excellent coverage. the sprayer was easy to set up and adjust. I had a few runs, but I was hanging off a ladder, and not seeking perfection. I used a bit more paint than I would have with an air compressor/sprayer, but this went really fast. Still had 2 bars of charge on a 5.0 amp battery after spraying one side.,

How much paint did you end up using for the entire shed?

Last year I painted this 24 x 40 ft, barn with the HF electric sprayer
I used Rustoleum thinned with acetone
The HF sprayer is 110 volt but the cordless sprayer should work just fine
I have used this one to spray 5gal of water based poly on pine tongue/grove and trim. No thinning and no issues.

I should note too that I have used rustoleum in a HvLP spray gun on a few bilco doors and have to re paint about every 8yrs. They get faded real bad and paint flakes off.

Geez! I thought you were going to paint it so it wasn't so noticeable. That's like a lighthouse on a clear night. :ROFLMAO:

I am guessing a bit over 3 quarts for 1/2. Waiting for 3 days in a row of dry weather to do the other side.
