Aren't you supposed to shoot OVER the bed, not through it?
What was he doing?

I don't think he was paying too much attention! Buck fever?

Shotgun season opened today. Three deer were taken by three hunters, but I only got one picture. A nice little 10 point. He went down in a ravine quite a distance from the house.

I guess this is a new use for the tractor - although I've used it this way every year.

Nice LITTLE 10 point? We hunt most of our lives for deer like that around here. The racks don't grow near as big since the oaks and beech nuts became scarce.

That is the primary use for our tractor at the hunt club. I have carted down a few deer at a time in the old manure spreader behind the old A-C wd-45.

He would be classified as a "monster" around lower Alabama. You may see a deer like that 3-4 times in a lifetime of hunting and getting a shot at something like that even fewer times.

Gun season opened today and I went this morning, got a 125lb doe. Needed some meat.

Not much if anything moving around our place. An oat patch that was full of deer on 11/3 had nothing for 2 days this weekend. Acorns everywhere, everytree. If we get enough rain this week it'll spoil the acorns on the ground any maybe we'll get some more movement.

The game cam caught this one behind the house (about 75 yards up on the hill). The big ones move at night.

Another "monster"...man, I need to move to Texas or Illinois:mad: Every time I put out corn, I end up getting 100 or more pics of a racoon family having all u can eat night. Me living next to a creek doesn't help matters much in the coon department.

I'd camp out on that feeder day in and day out until season ended. He'll get stupid when he comes into the rut...then you have a chance.

I should be up at our place in Georgia hunting, but the $200 non resident license is a little more than I need to spend right now. Even with no game warden in the area, and Florida being less than a quarter mile, I won't take the chance. I could actually hunt on the river edge that runs along the state line, as I have permission, but it isn't worth the chance. Before the break-up of the estate, there was enough property to allow me to hunt on property with a property owners license, but not now. I was looking into buying additional property adjacent to it, but unemployment pay doesn't thrill bank lenders much. Maybe next year, hopefully.

Here is my bow kill from early today. I saw a much bigger buck with a droptine earlier in the week, but couldn't get a shot at him. I couldn't pass this one up since gun season is about a week away. It will make alot of trail bologna.

We got lucky and took this one on opening morning in Missouri. It has a forked drop tine, which I don't think I had seen before.

Saw something odd while sitting in the stand. I set up a distance from a large active scrape in hopes of getting a look at the buck that created it. I noticed movement and saw a gray and white cat approach the scrape. The cat smelled it then got on it's back and wallowed in the scrape for 5-10 seconds, then walked off. I have hunted many years but have never seen a cat wallow in a deer scrape. Just when you think you have seen about everything something new comes along. So far I have not had any luck but turkeys went to roost close to my stand, sure are noisy critters.
