Anybody NOT using UDT or Super UDT

PetroCanada makes the Kubota Premium UDT oil we get in Canada. I don't follow the engine oil change hours because none of our other tractors are 50 hours, all 100 hrs or more. I think the interval is due to the direct hour meter and intermitant use by the majority of users. At 100 hr intervals the L5030 gets two changes a year.

BTW my warantee is up.

I do however follow the tranny oil change interval because of implements contaiminating the common oil reservoir and water/snow getting in the cylinder seals etc.

PetroCanada makes extremely high quality lubricants, primarily due to the fact that they use the highest quality basestocks to begin with.

When I bought my Kubota it had 299 hours on it, so when I first got it I did the 300 hour service. I went to the local Kubota dealer and bought an off-brand (can't remember the name) hydro oil. The guys there said it was what most of their customers used and they hadn't ever had a problem with it. It met all the specs of UDT and costed considerable less.

Costco has tranny fluid for sale. I think that is what I am going to use after the warranty is up on the BX.

The outside of the BX may be made by Mattel, but the engine and trans are very strong so I will make saure they have the best for the first 300 hours.

After that I will use standard stuff.

My BX2230 is up for its 50 hour service. I called the Kubota dealer where I bought it and they did not have the Kubota UDT or super UDT in stock. They told me that they had a Case brand fluid that was even better. I asked if it would change my warranty and was told NO.

Same situation with my dealer.. they do not keep UDT or SUDT in stock. They only stock Amsoil Multigrade. If they service the tractor that's what they put in.

Seems like there is a million answers to these questions??

I had to pick up a qt of UDT to top off my front axle ( still has the factory stuff in it) And the service manager there told me the ONLY thing they will use in a BX tractor is "SUDT"...axle..HST..you name it. But..On "larger" tractors.. ( I told him I had a B3030) they use "other fluids"..??? ( UDT or 80/90 in the front axle...etc..etc)

I guess my thoughts are that Kubota is not the only mfg of HST drive and "front axle" devices that require lubricants. The materials they use in their drive trains are most likely not unique to Kubota. Kubota limits their exposure by identifying and testing a quality oil. I have had Kubotas for nearly 30 years. Always used quality oils recommended by the dealer. Never had any problems. If they carried the Kubota oil I would most likely use it. They sell and service Kubota, NH, Case Const. Equip and a number of mower and garden tractors. I guess the dealer fells they have identified a quality oil source that they use for all tractor brands.

The dealer has stood behind all, be it limited, issues I have ever had without any questions. Has even taken parts off new unassembled machines to service mine. I have no doubts they would stand behind the warranty. If they are not ordering Kubota oil and they are selling Kubota tractors then it would seem likely that after all these years and many warranty issues Kubota knows they are not using Kubota oil.

Not the only answer to the question I'm sure but just my thoughts.

A lot of fluids meet the Kubota UDT specifications, but the only one I have found that lists meeting the SUDT specification is Chevron synthetic all weather THF. Not even the Amsoil specifications lists SUDT.
