Anybody use Back Up Balls?

I can get my hitch lined up perfectly, and easily, every time with the back up camera.

If the camera does not show your hitch ball, you can modify the mounting bracket so it does.

That's what I need. I've an E350 Maxivan and a mirror would be to far away. A wireless camera I would probabaly mount with Velcro style tape, and just stick it on when I want it.

4Ucam has a battery operated wireless model:

Seems like a good deal because you can swap it around.

I have a swift hitch.

Two Loons Trading Company

This is a very nice system. Color, good detail. Even some night vision capability. It comes with a charging cable and the portable monitor and camera are each battery driven and will run about 3 hours (more) on a charge.

It's meant for the user to clip to the tailgate of their pickup, and then use to line up the coupler and the ball of the tow vehicle and the trailer.

I bought this for my RV camper. Once I do this for my RV, I then transfer it into the RV and point it out the back window so that I can see what's directly behind me when I go camping and I'm in route.

I'm also thinking that there are lots of uses for it with the new tractor. I often drive the tractor on the side of our county highway for transport to my relatives. I could just clip the camera magnet to the ROPES of the tractor and point it backwards. Putting the monitor on the tractor instrament pannel would give me a rear-view mirror as I drive up the road. Once I start to use the tractor for running a 3 point implement, I could point the camera down and back would allow me to view the field implement at work without me turning around.

I have a flatbed trailer with portable ramps and I occassionally put the tractor on the flatbed. I could use the camera and monitor for another set of eyes from another angle that would show me that the wheels are good on the ramps, so I'm planning on using it for that.

If I clip the camera to an arm of the FEL, I should be able to see what the bucket is biting into when I'm using the FEL.

It's not cheap. Expect to pay about $300 for it. But as you can see I'm finding uses for it all the time.

I just backup and check a couple times. Can't see out the back window so if the outside mirrors are about equal, it's only a matter of distance. Did add uprights to the trailer tailgate pins as when the tailgate is off or the top is down, you can't see the trailer over the rear fenders on the dually. Uprights are equipted with reflective tape which helps parking in a motel lot after dark.

Well I went ahead and bought the low end 4UCam model. The cam has a fairly narrow field of vision. about 4 foot wide at 4 foot off the switch. The monitor has an RCA out jack.

Charged it up, stuck it on the back up the Maxivan, cranked up the power, adjusted the camera to see my hitch (while standing next to the hitch) dropped the monitor on the doghouse and proceeded to back up.

It was great.

I imagine the Swift Hitch would do just as good, for about $100 more.

...Then when I start getting close, I go slower and slower until I feel the small bump of the trailer touching my bumper. Isn't that why it's called a bumper? LOL Then I pull forward an inch and I'll be just about right. ...Eddie

Not to get OT, but when in Europe, I was amazed at how they use their bumpers when parking. People here in the States would have a COW!

Back on topic, I always just rely on the mirrors and instinct. And yeah, sometimes I have to pull forward and try again. Most times, though, I'm purty close. I think sometimes, my "computer" needs a reset.
