Chipper Anybody using a Liberty Chipper?

I looked at them but... 4" was to small, anything bigger needed more HP than what I have on my Kubota L3010. Please correct me if I am mistaken - do they make an affordable 6+" chipper that will run on 25hp HPO.

The main reason I went with the KPX/Liberty is because of the 185 pound flywheel and the large chute (even though I would never put anything bigger than 5" in it) to take brush without having to lop a lot.

It is a shame that they tried to cut corners because the main unit, i.e., drive balance, overall heft... it could have been a contender:D

Anyway, could have, should have... I've got to make do with what I have to work with. NO, I would never buy from KPX/Liberty again - AND - would not recommend to anyone AND would not try to sell this to anybody else... no matter how much I disliked them or didn't know them;)

I will have to work through the bugs. I cannot afford to throw good money after bad. Though it is disappointing, I will have to make the best of the choice I made.

Look at the bright side. You've learned more than you'd ever want to know about your liberty chipper and once you get a good anvil and set of knives you'll be good to go.

I've learned more about chippers in general, fastening systems/bolt grades, blade hardness/composition, etc... and on... and on...

There is always a cost for an education and I'm educated now...
Hope sharing is helping others...

Your posts have been very illuminating and great advertising for almost any other brand of wood chipper...except Liberty...:D

If the 4" Wallenstein is not right for you, here is another gentleman's search for the proper woodchipper...;)

Wood Chippers for Small Tractors

Some of the models are out of date, but the replacement units are similar to the models he talks about...

Ron I had a heck of time getting my blades adjusted. Is there some trick that you might be able to share with us. I was thinking of gettinga a piece of 20 or 24 gauge steel about 6" wide and making gauge to set between the anvil and blade. My problem seemed to be that I didn't get what ever I was using to guage thickness parallel to the anvil and blade.

My opinion/post is based on the Original Jinma Chipper.

I recommend removing the four bolts that hold the feed shoot on first.

Making a feeler gauge is a must...... I think.

Loosen all 3 bolts the holds the anvil and move it back and forth to make sure it slide easy. Make sure it is clean and level in the anvil bed.

Tighten the center bolt so the anvil has to have pressure on to move.

Rotate flywheel and adjust gap starting toward the center of the flywheel 1st ....... turn flywheel to adjust gap on out side edge of flywheel. Back and forth till ya get it. It is easier said than done but it does get quicker the more times you do it.

PS;... of coarse you have to have the feed drum up and out of the way.

Moot, I think the prep & customer service you have received so far has been your worst enemy with your chipper purchase.

I think your chipper is a spin off of a Jinma which means you will be able to get the main parts for it.

Get the bugs out of it and you will still be able to chip for a long time just like hundreads of others without spending the money of a Wallenstein unit. People have different budgets which makes them do different things with there money.

Any chance you could post a photo of your home made feeler gauge?

Don't have a picture handy ........sorry.

A peice of sheet metal truly flat & straight anywhere from 2 - 5 inches wide and around 6-8 inches long with a 45 degress bend I think works well.

I have 3-4 in what we call our chipper cart with different widths. Did that mainly due to employee request.

Just for reference, I ordered replacement A8 grade tool steel blades from Mill Depot, ($35 each blade)

I ordered from Mill Depot on Nov. 6th... they charged my card but have not shipped the blades! It is now Nov. 18th... I have emailed and telephoned without any response.

Has anyone else dealt with this company? What was your experience?
