Anyone affected by the gas pipeline break?

Yep, there's some gouging going on for sure, 20-30 cent jump here.

Georgia and Alabama Governor declared State of Emergency to help against price gouging but it'll happen some anyway. Today 8:00 pm Walmart at 1.99/gal reg. so no price gouging there but the lines were a bit long. Glad I didn't need any.

Lots of fuel trucks on the road from TX to GA. so naturally the price will jump some. It's a lot less expensive to ship in the pipeline than by trucks. Gouging is a totally separate scenario and makes me mad for someone to take advantage of a bad situation. I've noticed during a few State of Emergencies that the state of GA don't take kindly to it either. Some hefty fines have been issued some enough to cause stores to cease business. Everyone should report it if they suspect gouging.

Heard about the Virginia governor declaring state of emergency, and that we may experience shortages and price hikes, so went into town to fill up...no price change from earlier in the week...$1.86.

The wifey got up early to run to the grocery store and needed to fill up the car with gas. Most of the gas stations where out of fuel. We went to Costco yesterday and noticed they had huge lines for gas. I filled up the truck with diesel on Friday so I have enough fuel for a week or so and then it will get ugly.

Last thing I read is they were trying to build a bypass around the leak in the pipeline but there was no mention of when that would be completed. When I first read about the pipeline problem they said it was to be fixed this weekend but there was too many fumes at the leak site to work. They hope to get the pipeline fixed this week. If not, it is going to get really ugly next week....

One report said there are two pipe lines, one that has gas and the other for diesel, fuel oil and jet fuel. They had switched the non gas line over to gas which will make getting diesel fuel a bit interesting next week.

When they named the states that should/would be affected they did not mention Florida - but gas has already gone up several cents since last week.

The "winter blend" should not be a factor for Florida, since we don't really need a different blend for any part of the year - but, they use any excuse they can to raise the prices.

Isn't it interesting how it takes sooooooo much longer for the prices to come down - but they go up almost instantaneously.

This is going to make my trip to SC this week pretty interesting. I'm half tempted to put the receiver rack on the back of the SUV and take a few 5 gallon cans with me.

mark02tj that would be my suggestion. Not sure but some of the areas along the way could be like it is in my area, dried up. Only a few stations around get fuel and when they do everybody lines up as soon as its posted on facebook. I'm staying put as much as possible until it smoothes back out. My friends and family are using the phone more to keep in touch and doing what we can to conserve and not make the situation worse. I love to get out and ride just to look around and see whats changed since the last time I rode through but it's put on hold for the time being.

If you have a couple of 5 gal cans out in plain sight, you may need to consider posting an armed guard!

Around here only Costco and BJ's have decent prices ~$2.15. All overs are $2.35+
