Anyone build or make a trailer dolly?

The question would be: you are going to have other uses for the BCS, right?

I am probably one of those dreamers who think they can create peace on earth and end world hunger but in the end is use it far less than what what actually warrants the purchase price. That said I have a ranch and expect to be building a house on it in a year or two-so probably will have many uses if I choose them-clear brush, mow, garden, portable generator... of course I have other tools that can do some of this with compromises. 8’ shredder can not go places a 30 can, rotary plow and harrow can make a better bed than a tiller. 11hp Diesel with large tires can mow were a push mower fears to tread. The generator head can give me 240v and power a well that my 120v can not...

Hard to push a 10 trailer with a 12 vehicle through a 12 wide L... Barn has a few of those. Best I can do is get close and push by hand.

When I worked on and stored boats we had hand dollies and a 950 JD. I ran across 2 12 volt hand dollies that I got for junk price, they were a little slow but sure could move them. I was told that they were used to move aircraft around. Maybe some of the guys that have worked in a small aircraft Mfg. or airport tell you more about them.

There are certainly applications where the two wheel tractor is better. I don't regret having one*, though if I had to do things over, I think I would have just gotten the 4 wheel tractor with front end loader first, and attachments for that, and limited myself to one two wheel tractor for mainly the rotary plow and rotary brush mower, possibly cutter bar mower, for mowing in tight, steep and inaccessible places.

* I have right now 4, though one is permanently configured with the powered trailer, so is more like a slow 4x4 pickup truck.

My grandfather made an attachment for his back hoe (tractor mounted), it was a a bar with a trailer ball on the bucket. he would pull a light trailer around behind him.... then when it was time to reverse... he'd use the back hoe controls to "adjust"....

Fwiw, a smaller BCS would probably work well for that application, and be able to run some of the other attachments as well. I think it's a neat idea. I wouldn't buy a BCS just for this, but I feel like if you had one, something could work well. One thing, you'd have to consider the weight distribution, it'd be cool if you could use the motor weight to your advantage, help offset the trailer weight.

Good luck!

I'd go the other way-- if you're going to get a two wheel tractor, study all the attachments, and get the one that can run any attachment you might potentially get. I say this from having gotten first the venerable, but weak Czech Vari system for cutting grass and raking hay, then a rotovator for it, before finally realizing that we wanted a rotary plow, which isn't possible to run with a 4HP motor.

Hello mousehunter, have a look at Home - MuckTruck The bin is removable and one of the attatchments is a tow ball for moving trailers in confined areas. I have used it with both bin(paver off-cuts) and platform mode(pavers) and it did a good job handling uneven gravel and muddy ground easily.
The promo I saw also showed boats being moved around a tight yard. The boats were on single and tandem axle trailers.

I made one for my BCS850, dolly attaches to the pin coupler above the PTO. Mine is very simple, a straight bar(channel like road sign post)about 4'long, axle about 25" with foam filled wheel barrow tires and a piece of 2 1/2" square tubing vertical with the ball on top. The ball is mounted on 2" tubing, removable so I can change it out with a seat. It works, works better pulling than pushing, in the yard I use it for moving a log splitter and light trailer. If I were to make it again, I would use the PTO coupler with a short "tongue" and a castor type wheels, power barrow style but shorter. Should work good for tight flat places. I just don't have much flat.View attachment 562740THis picture shows the dolly with the seat in place pulling a wagon. Seat removes, insert ball.

Earthtools now produces it's own in-house mowing/work sulky. I've just purchased an 852 and I got the ET sulky with it (also... an awesome 34" Berta flail mower). The interesting thing about the ET sulky is that a trailer can be hitched to it. I have plans to purchase a 10 cubic foot dump cart to complete the train. The sulky was $750 plus shipping. The dump cart is $2-300. So it's a good $1150-ish all told, but a pretty functional setup.

CMYoung's is essentially similar in function, but lacking the fabrication skills to craft my own I had to buy. As happy as I am with the sulky, I really ought to learn to weld...
