Anyone driving less?

Before I drive 48 miles to the nearest shopping center over in Paducah, I check to see if I can order" it" online. If shipping cost is $10.00 or less I let UPS bring it to me.

yep, the rising gas prices will be a business boost for internet sales. I order more stuff off the internet now, as the shipping often equals or is less than my gas cost to go get the item.

With fuel prices going up like a rocket, how long before significant increase from UPS?

)</font> He may save gas but he will have higher maintenance costs. The engine will not get hot enough to burn off the moisture in the oil and exhaust. The engine needs to reach 212 degrees for this to happen. He will have to change the oil more often and replace the muffler sooner. I know from experience, I live 1.5 miles from work.

Absoloutly true, not the best thing for an internal combustion engine.

The thing I noticed when I went from a 2mi drive to a 35mi drive was that I was less stressed. When I lived close to work, I was still mentally irritated from work when I got home and had a harder time getting away from it. Since I have had a longer drive, the fuel prices went up and the alcohol costs went down. Now with a 65mi drive and a better job, I hardly touch the stuff. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nothing has changed at all except for me taking the "scotter" to work more....

Quite a bit less. Used to love just getting out and driving back roads, not any more. A very distinct and noticeable decrease on US195 in E WA. Making 100 mile round trip on it daily for my wife's radiation therapy. Before gas prices went up it was 100 miles of frustration trying to work through traffic. Now it is rare that I have to try to pass one vehicle. My estimate is there is about 50% less traffic now.

I drive truck around Phoenix/metro at night and have not noticed any decrease in traffic. If anything, it's worse. My wife and I have not and will not change any of our driving habits. I get 3 days off a week and we like to go on mini vacations every few weeks. We take my Dodge diesel which gets 22 mpg. instead of her Chevy Cavalier which gets 35 mpg. because I won't drive a matchbox.
