Today I took my Ram 3500 to an old friend who has owned a diesel mechanic shop for many years. We started talking about the issues I've had recently with my Kubota L6060. You can see more on that here. Water in fuel causes $10,000 damage to my Kubota Grand L6060

As we were talking he said "You know I can 'delete' that tractor for you. This guy owns a well-known and highly respected shop, and works mainly on large trucks, and lots of them

I'm wondering if anyone else has attempted to "delete" a tractor, and what were the results.

Following summarizes cost to VW for exceeding diesel emission standards on their diesel engine cars. Not entirely germane, but somewhat so.

How much has Dieselgate cost Volkswagen?

About: Volkswagen AG ADR (VWAGY)|By: Yoel Minkoff, Seeking Alpha News Editor

The cleanup of Volkswagen's (OTCPK:VWAGY) diesel cheating scandal will cost the automaker €5.5B in 2018, around €2B in 2019 and €1B in 2020, CFO Frank Witter told Boersen-Zeitung.

Since 2015, the German group has paid more than €27B to settle investor and consumer lawsuits, as well as regulatory fines and remedies tied to resolving excessive emissions levels in its diesel cars.

27,000,000,000 Euros = $23,700,000,000 $/US

Another way to look at that is they will do nothing unless you are a big time player. Article said they warned him years ago and he kept doing it.

OTR vehicles are one thing. Outside of cities, there is really no reason to put that stuff on tractors. Too few of them running too few hours and spread too far apart.

Why does the EPA, IRS and Dept of Ag and such all have their own armed officers? I would think it would be better for the FBI to handle all investigations. This way we just get more bloat.

Guys order “glider kits” (new truck chassis with no engine or transmission) and install pre-emissions drivetrain in it.
If a tractor, I’d buy the lowest hour, pre emissions tractor I could and restore it and still be way ahead on money.
Which is what I’ve actually done.

If the factory warranty was expired I wouldn't hesitate if I was having problems and I would keep my mouth shut and no one would be the wiser, if you tell it some do-gooder will likely rat you out.
