Anyone have a 17 super duty?

This is why the used truck market is so healthy also. My 2000 F250 7.3 diesel
is 18 model years old. I probably average $250/month in repairs and maintenance
and I do the labor. I really need to upgrade to a newer model but I would not
want to drive a new $90k truck through the places I have to go during the day.

I agree. Price is such now that Ill never own another new rig. I buy a truck to work, not grocery get

Y'alls Canadian prices are crazy high!

Yep. There was a new F250 XLT SCrew Diesel on the lot too, something like $71k. Also nuts. The days of new trucks for me are over I think

While I do take mine and will with the new truck get grocerys, it'll also work. No "pickup" on the market in the past has the legal capabilities that the new ones do. For my new tractor that'll be here in February is a 100hp cab Deere. Add loader and batwing and were probably close to about 16-17k lbs. my current trailer is 25+5 and weights 7700 lbs. I'm going to be getting a 30+5 or 35+5 with 12k or 15k axles. Trailer will be closer to 8-9500lbs. So for ease of math my towed load will be 26k not including the truck. With these weights I don't want to keep rolling the dice with legalities or safety. I looked into getting a big truck but it would have no use other than pulling and something else to maintain and insure. Now, I'll get the best of both worlds but it comes at a cost. I could get an XL for less but I'd rather get what I want.

Good info Brett!!! So the new truck will tow 26K according to the manufacturers specs?? Yes, that's very impressive. My GCVW reaches 24K often and that's about all my truck can legally tow (2000 F250 Super Duty).

As mentioned below, it's much higher. These are game changing trucks. 14k is the max weight for a class 3 truck. The 450 and 350 have the same truck weight capacities but if you look at the 450 up close you'll see the changes. Huge rear axle, brakes and stock 19.5s

Max GCWR for the 2017 F450 Pickup is 41800 lbs with a max GN or 5th wheel trailer of 32500 lbs.

I understand. Mine, same truck as yours, has 220K miles on it. Very dependable. Only needs normal wear/tear items replaced. I gave $12,800 for it seven years ago with 100K miles. Bought it from the original owner. My salesman friend continually tells me he'll give me my $12,800 anytime I want to sell it. He knows he can make money selling it.

My only hope is that my current truck holds on until the newer trucks I like are cheap enough that I can afford to buy one. :)

How much can I get for my 2001 with 80,000 miles? I bought it in 2003 with 16,500 miles.

Not sure in your area. If it's straight and not rusty, $16K here easily. I'm in rural AG area. High demand.

If you are wanting to sell it, be very careful about pricing. You'll be sad if the first caller buys it and then you figure out you sold too cheap.

With that low of miles, very good condition, not all high horsepowered up,
no rust and top level interior $16-20k no problem. I saw a local 2002 F250
7.3 Lariat auto CC 4x4 looked like it came off the showroom floor. I think
it was garage kept and never pulled a trailer. He was asking $26.5k and it
sold quickly.
I have had about 10 people ask if i wanted to sell my truck. I tell them my
son has first dibs. Of course he wants me to pass it along to him.

Well I couldn't resist the temptation and bought one. 2017 F-450 King Ranch. It is on the train right now and should be at me dealer for me to pick up early next week.

I really like my 16 GMC Denali Dually but it is only rated to two around 23k and the 450 is rated to tow 32,500. I have a 15 ton gooseneck trailer I load heavy to around max capacity so the beefier truck is really needed. My hopes are it handles the load well and I can sell my semi.

These trucks are very expensive but if you use them for work like I do it is justifiable and is a good write off. It is costing me 20k to trade but the purchase will save me about 8k in taxes so for 12k net I think it is worth it. We used to keep our work trucks for years and years until they were wore plum out and while I thought it was saving money it really wasn't. The downtime cost of when older trucks break down when you need them for work exceeds the cost of staying in newer ones.
