Anyone have a scale on their loader?

Do you recall what they cost? Were they a hydraulic scale, “tee’d” into a hydraulic line?
We were selling them for $795 plus $13.95 shipping. They do tee into the hydraulics. We tried to tie in to the main line that fed the lift cylinders, not the bucket cylinders. Also remember we seemed to get better readings when we bumped the load down minutely. Probably because it may have relieved some pressure on all the pins & bushings. Not everybody greases them as often as they should be.

Have you looked at hydraulic bale clamps for the large rectangular bales?
Loading the trailer in the field and then weighing it on the road with the
certified pad scales seems so much simpler to do.

It very well could be easier, but:

1. I want to know what each bale weighs. I have my reasons.
2. We don’t have access to a certified scale near any of my fields.
3. I’d have to weigh the truck loaded and the weigh it again empty to get an exact weight of the hay. That’s very impractical-especially when there’s no scale available.
4. For $750-$1,000 it would be nice to have for other items other than hay bales, too.
5. Would be nice for some customers who want to buy a few bales and want to know the weight.

I show 1 in our inventory but I believe we used it on our own equipment as I can't locate it. Their website is active, a man named Chris answered the phone every time I called (800 448-5681). You can view a Brochure and the Manual at Tara Systems . Just click on the picture of the tractor loader or the forklift as they use the same one. If you want me to get a price let me know. They are USA made !!

Have 10,000# digital gauge on the loader lift arms. Multi function, units, tare, net, etc. Weighed logs and 3pt 960# counter weight with a crane scale for reference. Picked up known weights and tried to develop a formula or rule of thumb to guesstimate weight from loader pressure. While individual weights were repeatable, combinations were not. New loads not very close even when using the same lift height and curl. Beyond my calculus skills.

Hay bales are probably more consistent than my loads. Even with the same bale of known weight, how you stick it, raise it, curl it, ground grade will all effect loader pressure. 10-15% error adds up. I understand your effort in providing your customers with the best service.

There are loaders that have weight scales like at the quarry. Some loader operators are very accurate. None sell by that weight that I know of.

So many more variables of quality and quantity i looked for when buying hay.

As someone said earlier you’d have to have the load lifted the same height and the same position to get repeatable results. Here is a thought. Every time you lift a bale stop at a certain point, say two feet off the ground, write that number down every time. Then when you weigh the actual load on your trailer you know what’s on the trailer. You can get a weight of your average bale. Then you can adjust the loader scale.
