I have a Kubota L3400HST with a factory front end loader and am thinking about getting an offset flail mower with tilt for cutting around the edge of my fields, creekbanks and some other places too steep for a bushhog.

Eventually I will add rear remotes but, in the meantime, can I run the side shift and tilt with my loader circuit and joystick if I take off the loader ?

We have a local hydraulic supply house that can make me up some longer hoses so thats not a problem.

Second question is does anyone have any experience with MechMaxx flail mowers ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can certainly do that for the flail hydraulics.
As far as MechMax, I read (and read) everything I could find on flails before making a decision on what to buy. MechMax wasn't around when I bought, but I ruled out the Chinese flails after reading a lot of complaints about construction, assembly, and durability. I ended up with a DelMorino articulating ditch bank mower that is built like a tank, and in its third season.
All that said, there are plenty of satisfied Chinese (and Indian) flail mower owners here on TBN. I guess I'm more of a buy once, cry once type, and didn't want to take a chance.

I've been using the loader hydraulics for my Peruzzo ditch and bank mower since I bought it in 2018. I find the loader joystick well positioned for use with the mower, and the actions quickly become second nature. I see no need to add remotes for the mower, rather I see them as less convenient than using the loader controls.

I've always taken my loader off for mowing to make it easier to maneuver around obstacles so that's not an issue for me.

The dealer supplied extension hoses with my purchase.

This looked pretty exciting to me until I realized my loader would sit on the ground if I disconnected it. Removing it from the tractor is not a realistic option. It's a nightmare to take off.

Thanks for the responses. It made sense to me that it should work but wanted to confirm with someone who has done it.

Going to do some more shopping around and look at other brands before I pull the trigger.

My loader comes off easily in just a few minutes and has fold down kickstands so its not too bad to deal with.

Thanks Again,

Sadly, the L681 requires the removal of a bunch of bolts. It is no fun at all.

Just block the cylinders in the up position and then unhook the hoses from the loader and connect your flail mower hoses.

Just make sure the blocks keep the cylinders up don’t get knocked off and letting the loader drop while mowing.
