Drill a hole in the ground, plant it in it.;)

I did the same thing. But I inserted a pipe just a bit larger than my biggest auger and drilled it as deep as I could, this allows the auger to not come in contact with the ground inside the pipe bottom.

you must have alot of equipment......send it my way and ill store it for you.

i have buildings enough for all my toys......plus a little room to store some of yours.......maybe ill even let you use it

May I ask how big your barn is? I figure that I need at a minimum of 5000 square feet and where I'm at that is the absolute biggest that the county will let me build. :(

Oh yeah, 8 tractors, 1 water truck, 1 Peterbilt semi, 5 trailers, 20-30 different implements and that's not counting all the stuff that we don't use. ;)

i like the ideas for hanging it indoors. up here in north Idaho, if i were to screw it into the ground and leave it, it would be a rusted mess in no time at all.

all of my equipment is stored under cover. its a pet peeve of mine that if I'm going to spend money for a tool, it is to be stored indoors.

if i don't have room to store it, i wont buy it.
That would be nice. My building would have to cover about 10 acres. At least.

While this would work for 1 auger size and if you happen to have the right size pipe available, what happens if you happen to have multiple auger sizes? Then you would have to change augers just to store your PHD. :(

Just make sure the pipe is big enough for the biggest auger and call it good.

The pipe, being bigger than my largest auger will accept whatever auger I have on it at the time. The other 3 augers lay on 2 side by side posts right next to the stand. There convent to change out to whatever one I need at the time

Well, I have a 6, 9 12,18 and 24" augers. I think that the 6,9 & 12" might be just a weeee bit sloppy and not really hold the PHD up just quite right. I am quite happy with my PHD stand for the $20 that it cost me.

I just purchased a hydraulic downforce kit for my Speeco post hole digger, and now i have a new quandary.

after i install this thing, the post hole digger is going to be very heavy. its hard to install by myself right now, after i add all this steel it will be a real pain.

didn't quite think this out.

any suggestions??

The OP was wanting suggestion on what TBN,ers had done to support and store there post whole diggers and we all were responding with Ideals and examples of what we have done, If you, MtnViewRanch, like the way your storing your PHD then by all means don't change!

I was under the impression that the OP had made up his mind earlier.

thanks for all the ideas guys.......im headed for lowes also.

Nothing wrong with your idea or anyone else's for that matter, just that it seems to have limitations to me. :confused3: I was just pointing out what might be a potential problem if a person had multiple auger sizes. So you are saying that with your smallest auger, your PHD sits in that big hole just fine and that it is just as easy to deal with as when the biggest auger is on the PHD?

Yes! The smaller the auger the more the movement but probable not more or much more than one hanging from chains and some of the carts that were picture with wheels to me "in my opium" seem to be harder to hook up than my method. But I have not ever tried to do it that way! So who knows! ;) Mine works for me! and theirs work for them:cool:

I hope we don't have any school teachers on here cause some time my spelling is bad!
