I just purchased a hydraulic downforce kit for my Speeco post hole digger, and now i have a new quandary.

after i install this thing, the post hole digger is going to be very heavy. its hard to install by myself right now, after i add all this steel it will be a real pain.

didn't quite think this out.

any suggestions??

I used some pressure treated 4x4s and a couple of U brackets, cost was less than $20. These were the very first holes that I used my PHD for. There are many other types of stands, this is just what I did. Takes about 5 minutes to install or remove the PHD, no muss, no fuss, easy on the back. You will love your down pressure kit, I know that it made a world of difference for me. ;)

I also got tired of trying to manhandle the 3PH auger into place when connecting, & finding a decent way to stand or lean it when disconnecting. So I recently threw a 5/16" cable (w/ eyelets on both ends) over a barn rafter, & I can hang it from that now with a short piece of chain with hooks on both ends. Waaaaaaay easier. It's hanging just barely above the floor, so it's not too dangerous. I also strap one end to a barn support post to keep it from blowing all around in the wind.

This way you can very easily swing it all around while connecting it to the tractor. And disconnecting is a snap, too. Just raise the auger all the way up with the 3PH, back it under the cable/ chain, wrap the chain under the auger's curved boom, lower the 3PH all the way, & disconnect it from the tractor.

Just like beppington, I hang my post hole digger on a heavy chain from the front beam of a pole barn, close to one of the corner posts. Works great, you dont have to build or buy anything.

My auger has a loop welded to the top of boom close to the gearbox. I built a steel frame about 2 feet wide with a hook. Back the tractor mounted auger under the frame, engage the hook, then the auger weight is held by the frame. It basically hangs from the loop.

The frame has a wide base that allows it to be relocated anywhere level. I keep moving it around the shed as I purchase more equipment and stuff.

If you don't want to weld to the boom, two U bolts could serve the same function.

I like your idea. I just my PHD on for the first time today, then stood outside the shed tying to figure out a way to park it without having to man handle it. If I hung in the shed would be no room for the tractor if it had another attachment on it.
Thanks, heading for Lowes in the morning for some posts.
