Next you'll tell me global warming is real:rolleyes:

.

A little off topic, but;

From 1996 to 2006, global climate was 0 degrees warmer. Model predicted .5 increase. 1996 was unusually cool by the way.

From 1998 to 2006, global climate was 0.5 degrees COOLER, model predicted 0.5 degrees warmer. Statistically there is less than a 0.01% chance that the GW model is accurate. Predicted is outside -3sigma limits.

On topic, I would like to check out the mini-trucks but Texas is way too far. Remember that some of the minis WILL need repair.

RalphVA - your suggestion is good on many levels, but not for many of the folks here. I tow equipment 4-6000 miles a year and haul firewood, logs etc an additional 2000 miles. Yearly costs for rental fees would exceed the cost of the truck + operational expenses and the rental rig would get fewer miles per gallon than my diesel truck. Still, if you don't NEED it, it is a waste on some level to have it. But, this is AMERICA where we buy stuff because we WANT it. You (the generic you, not you personally!) only NEED 2 sets of clothes a year, only need heat your house to 45F, only need a bath every other week, don't need mechanical transport unless you're traveling over 20 miles, don't need A/C unless it's over 100F with 95% humidity and you're over 70 years, you don't need over 1500 calories per day, etc etc. Personally, I like living in a country where hard work, smart decisions and ambition can get me what I WANT and not only what I NEED. After all, I don't NEED a computer, internet and access to TBN, but I WANT it!!

Sorry to have fallen so far off topic!!

Ken - I might be interested but I need a lot more info .....ie: can the bed be made a dump? capacity? What price range? used or new? Maybe as has already been said the better deal may be to buy one that's already in country. If I were to decide to run with that - maybe we could hook up with transportation from a dealer.

or find one in town? this is Houston after all.

Give up my larger truck??? Where would I rent a large truck to pull my horse trailer when/if I need a vet after hours. Or on a weekend when a horse colics and you need to move NOW. Not many vets around here will do farm calls for less than a couple of dozen animals. It doesn't pay enough. I won't get off topic much but the cost of fuel right now is not about supply and demand it's about putting political pressure on the world. My 2 cents.

There is a dealer here, Houston Mini Trucks - 4x4 Off-Road Mini Trucks, I talked to him and seems his prices are double what you can order yourself.However, I guess we have to weigh the other factors, time, repairs, import issues, etc.
I'll dig a little deeper.

:D:p:D I found that same site right after I replied earlier ..... emailed him ...You've got me going now .... all I need now is some support from the ol' CFO .....(prolly not going to happen - I've been a little spend happy of late) :rolleyes::eek: .... BUT I sure would like to get into his warehouse and have a look see ... maybe take her along ... They're about the same as what I paid for her golf buggy. Having a mini dump on the place sure would be handy.

When these little trucks first started showing up, you could get a nice one with a few extras for $3500. Now they are around $5500. I have seen them with atv tires and a winch for $8k. If you could get a container full, you could probably sell the others to pay for yours. JC

Current fuel costs are on world market. China is buying a whole lot of oil and wants to continue to be able to do so. In less than 15 years, they will be producing the most cars in the world and want their people to be driving them. That means they want and will buy the oil for those cars to allow their people to live in the cities where the government wants them to be. That in turn means the world demand for oil will continue to rise and the prices will follow. It's not just mid-east politics, it's the world economies, especially the rising Chinese economy, that is driving oil prices. More users = higher prices.
