As a retired First Sergeant Army Vet with 40 years service I'm embarrassed that you throw that in as an incentive for donations.

I'm kind of embaressed that some guys after 25 years in the service can't seem to wipe their own *** if uncle sam doesn't tell them to when they get out.

My father spent 26 years in, got out, retired two civilian jobs AFTER his military stint. I thought my father was just average when I was in my teens. Now I know he's above average.

Sell off one of the properties in a separate county. Sell the tractor you are making payments on. Then focus those resources to caring for the dog. Doesn't look complicated to me.

The dude is just being transparent and he's been registered a while with a large post count, I don't see any issue. What's the point of having a community if you can't help each other out in times of need?

No need to get all nasty, sometimes there circumstances happen that are out of our control. Why not show a bit of understanding rather than distain?

Also, thanks for the kick in the pants I needed, here's another $50 for Vinnie.

Thank you!

I asked for kindness and I've received lots and lots of kindness! It makes me happy and warms my heart that other people also care about my little buddies well-being, and subsequently shows me their love and compassion too.

I am selling things to fund this surgery, but I don't think selling tools I've acquired to try to live on and provide for my family is a smart move. My tractor is part of a long term strategy to remain as self-sufficient as possible within my physical limitations (my ortho Doc says I "should be put out to pasture" :( ). The last year of my life was DARK. I didn't want to die, but I didn't want to live either. Vinnie losing his eye would be viewed in my head as a complete failure as some things I've had in the works for years haven't panned out and it's left me in this position and he suffered because of it.

Tractor time is therapeutic for me, as is working the land at our place up North. It's better than any one-on-one counseling that anyone can provide. I don't want to be a mooch. I really struggled with reaching out here to post about this as it is a personal failure to handle my affairs to my own satisfaction. I feel blessed that most have been understanding, and many have been very generous. Again, Thank You to all of you!

Well Top, I'm glad I wasn't one of your troops. One property serves as our home and the other is where I intend to move us to for a better life. If I didn't have my tractor, I wouldn't be able to do what I do to prepare the land to build on. I'd be sitting in front of the tv drunk out of my mind or already dead. So your advice here sucks.

Yeah me too. Your problem solving skills are inadequate.

You're welcome.

Sometimes reality is nasty.

Thank you. My Dad had many hunting hounds. He never once asked neighbors for help taking care of them.
