This place is a wealth of information, thx to all. Rainy morning in NC.
I called my local dealer about these zerks grease fittings and they didn’t know either! I broke mine 2 weeks ago. My plan is to remove the broken fitting with an ez out. ( Ive tried ez outs maybe 10 times in the past, never worked, end up with a broken tool in a old rusty brake cylinder!). My tractor is only 6 months old so maybe it will cooperate.....maybe. I will steel a good fitting from the adjacent point on the fel, I have 4 of the same on each side, Confirm that it fits where the broken one was removed and then take that known good one to the dealer, along with my broken fitting, see if they can match them up. He’s says, no problem. Hmmmmm
Side note. After 6 months, every fitting was loose, except the one that broke, ha! Might wanna check your fittings.
I’ve been waiting 2 weeks to do the job because.....i can not get to my tractor unless I’m completely naked or wearing hip boots. Hmmmmm
I bought a good sized piece of land last year, big new tractor, bucket list stuff. I had about 1 acre scrapped off and flattened for small house and shop. In 1 year I’ve got footings and block, that’s it. Ever hear of Ga. red clay. Ga has no patents on red clay. It’s been raining pretty steady in NC for years. Ive been here 40 years and as retired geezer, golfer and outdoors kinda guy, I pay a lot more attention to weather than the Starbucks crowd. I’m a semi expert on incessant rain as I lived in Oregon for 7 years so.......been there, done that. As far as rain, Carolina is simply Oregon with an accent, except Oregon has spectacular summers, albeit only 7 weeks long.
About 6 months ago, I started keeping track of the rain. It rains in central NC about every 40-50 hours, on average. It was not like that in the past. Once in a great while we will get 5-6 days with out rain, more often 5-6 days of rain in a row. The orange mud never drys out....never. I can’t believe this placed perked, the tire ruts hold water for weeks! I’m told the pottery capitol of the USA is just up the road, unlimited free orange clay.
I literary can not walk to my tractor without being overcome with this mud. You southerners know what I’m talking about. I grew up in Wisconsin, we didn’t have orange clay.
I hope to have good news re the zerks but until it stops raining, I wait and wait and wait.
And anybody says just 1 word about drought and I’m goin postal!
