When Kubotas are assembled and shipped they have the wheels set in for obvious reasons. Mine were like that when I bought it new.

On my 9540 it was possible to remove the tire/rim without removing the center. To get the width I wanted I had to swap sides.

When I did this my tires were not filled with fluid. It was still a struggle and I did it by myself. I've swapped several tires and find it easier to do by myself. With a helper you find yourself fighting each other.

Hopefully your setup is like mine. Appears to be the same center with maybe a narrower rim. My tires are 18.4x30. Not sure of rim width.

Good luck Six!!!

After you unbolted the wheel from the rim did you then twist the wheel sideways and work it off a little at a time? When you tried to remove the wheel, were the center clamps situated at 10, 2, 4 and 8 o'clock? Maybe 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock? Know what I mean?

Is this a Herculean effort or just average? My only goal is to paint the rim and center. I could do it on the tractor but would not be able to paint the inside and that would bother me.

We just replaced the tires on a 100 horsepower John Deere at work. The way that we installed the cast centers was to lift them up with a forklift and hold them at the right height to bolt onto the wheels.
Then we lifted up the rim the same way mounted them to the cast centers and then the tire guy installed the and pumped in the beet juice.
To get them lined up if he had to install a tire, he said he would jack up the tractor, put it in neutral and then he would be able to spin the hub to line it up.

I think this is the type ( Kubota OEM on 40 series ) rim that ovrszd is talking about. These are on my M6040.

View attachment 575553 - - FRONT Raise & support the axle. Support the rim - remove the six rim bolts - rotate the wheel center so the "rim tabs" can be brought out thru the voids in the center.

Pretty easy for the front tire - probably 200 to 225 pounds. Definitely need equipment for the rear - close to 900 pounds there.

I'm pretty sure ovrszed has cast wheels like I pictured in my first post.

Yep, cast like yours.

I don't recall any particulars concerning "clocking" the fasteners.

Removed all the nuts/bolts. Rolled tire forward far as it would go. This allowed front brackets to clear the cast.

Then with pry bars and much cussing I slid the tire outward. Back of tire was in against tractor. Front was out far enough I could roll backward enough to again slide tire outward until rear brackets cleared cast.

It was a struggle. But I'd do it again rather than pay a shop to do it.

Mine are loaded now so I'd hafta hire it done.

As mine set now they are behind the cast but with the most rim outward.

The tractor Six is working on and mine both have optional cast centers. Probably the same centers. Different rims due to tire size.
