I was discombobulated when I was reading this. I had just read a thread about radiator bearings being the wrong size, and it made me think incorrectly.

I stand corrected and apologize for causing you to read that one long, miserable thread.....all to no avail.

I can't help with the John Deere question, but I have a L3400 Kubota, and didn't need a PTO or top link extension.

On the subject of needing extentions or not....
It depends alot on the PTO shaft's original size and IF it has ever been cut down.
Realize that some have to be cut by dealers so the shaft will fit your unit.
You can do a little measuring and find out.
I see that some of the quick hitches make the 3pt arms longer and some don't.
At the same time, if you have enough extra shaft it won't make any difference.

I have Pat's ECS and am real happy with it. I suggest getting the spreader bar (can't recall what they call it) if you have implements with different widths. You can mark the spreader for the different implements. Makes connecting up a breeze (or something like it).

I have a set of PEC on my BX2200 and no problem with either top link or PTO length.

I ordered the knockoff that was pictured on the first page from ATVExpress on ebay.. and Im very disappointed.... They sent me the REAL Pats Easy Change instead of the knock off... Now i wont be able to give you any feedback of the quality.. LOL

The PEC was delivered this morning and it took me a while to get it installed, but it works so great.. I even got the spreader bar - it was $54 + shipping for a total cost of $73

Im very pleased..

I too ordered the knockoff which is on the front page because of this thred. But I had been thinking about it already. Got it and put it on my tractor and Dang, It won't work with the two most important attachments for me. Not because of anything with the quick hitch. Now what do I do with them, scratched them up trying them out but didn't even use them, anyone want a good deal on a set with the spreader bar?

What was the problem?

I have both a boom mower and a large heavy back blade that are a PITA to hook up. Both have brackets that are on both sides of the quick hitch end pieces and both times I would have to grind away part of the 3/8 and 1/2 inch metal bracket to give me more clearance so the locking pin on the quick hitch piece would fit in place. It seems more trouble than it's worth. I have welded stabilizing chains on the boom mower also that are in the way so I guess I'll just forget about the quick hitch for now. The system would work for my other impliments though.
Oh Well, Y&B

Y&B, how often do you use those two implements? If you use them rarely, it may be worth it to keep the easy change and use them on everything else. They can be removed pretty quickly, so they're not much of a hassle. Dad kept his because the implements that they won't work on don't get much use, and the easy changes make hooking all his other stuff up a breeze.

OOPS - It looks like I probably didnt get the 'real' PEC, but the companys blatent knockoff of PEC... Not such a good deal after all.. But they do work and make it much easier to change implements..

Dieselmh,
unfortunately I got the quick hitch just for those two impliments, always changing between those two. But you are right they come off easy enough. I can manhandle evrything else, but the backblade and boom mower are a little too heavy. Might keep em, you can never have too much tractor stuff.

Well in that case, I think I'd modify the implements to make them work. If I bought the quick hitch just for them, I'd probably do my best to use them. We decided not to modify the two implements that didn't work with the quick hitches on Dad's tractor, but that's because he doesn't use them very much. Could you cut out the metal that's in the way, and add another piece of metal for support above that spot?

Atvexpress, Arkco Distributing, Titan Skid Steer or whatever they are calling themselves this week are blatantly infringing on my US patent (7,059,419) and Copyrights. Yes, my PEC are more expensive, but they are made from US steel right here in the good ole USA. I can't get my guys to work for $.30 an hour like the people that do these knock offs over seas. LOL. The cost of the hardware to make a safe and dependable product just keeps going up, but I have not raised my prices. I refuse to send out a product that has not been approved by an engineer and stress tested for reliability. I stand by my hitches and extend a money back guarantee. You can call me any time (888-243-4204) and I am happy to give you my address (487 D E Brown Road, Brandenburg, KY 40108). Stop by and I will be happy to show you around. I have nothing to hide. Try to get that from the other guys. All you can get are Cricket cell phone #'s that can't be traced and change every month. They won't give you their address so what happens when you have a problem? We have all category hitches available, cat #1, Cat #2, Cat #3, Cat #1-2, Cat #2-1, Cat #2-3. We have ones we keep in stock for the Montana tractors. We have extra long pins for Ford's. As always we thank you for patronage and will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Pat,

If this is correct, have you spoken with them about this? If you have, what was their reply?

What about the ones from Carter and Sons (I think that was the name). Are they also in violation?

Does the infringment have to do with the hitches being individual pieces?

It seems the actual latching mechanism is different, using a bolt as opposed to a spring loaded sort of latch.

It just seems to me that your design has so much more to it (adjustment wise) than these systems.

I guess it doesn't help much that I don't have a good knowledge of patent laws.

Don't take me wrong here, I'm not taking a side or anything. I'm just curious.

The only quick hitch I've ever tried was one of the Harbour Freight "tent sale" units that now sits in a corner of the barn because the darn thing wouldn't fit any attachment that I own. (I know. If I were smart, I would have measured first. Too late now.)

No, Carter and sons are not infringing. My patent is for the spring loaded latch and stabilizing system (set screws and U-bolts). I have had the attorney send them papers and he is having trouble tracking them down. Which you know every time he does something I get charged for it. They start a business name in a state then make it inactive before you can catch them. (Russellville, AR - Cordova, TN - Memphis, TN) That is how I know about the Cricket phones they use for their business phones. They are copying our instructions, with our name still on them, and sending them with these knock offs. I don't mind fair competion like Carter and sons, but these other guys aren't fighting fair. (I know my mom used to tell me life ain't fair, but I can still try) They at one time were using our pictures off our website and coloring out our name.

Thanks, Pat.

I guess I was thinking of the ones in the picture of the first post in this thread. Those look to only have a bolt held in place by a pin of some sort on the "hook" part, and another pin that goes through the eyes of the tractor's lift arms.

Maybe the picture doesn't show everything. Or perhaps its time for me to get new glasses.
