There is no good reason not to use a high quality UTF in front axles.
First Mobil 424 has a great reputation, I recently found a local supplier that has decent pricing and will likely switch to it in the future.
But my question is why many on here think gear oil in the front axle is necessary over the UTF almost universally recommended by manufacturers? If it is good enough to lubricate the transmission and rear end gears, why would it not be acceptable in a front axle which likely has less stress and likewise much simpler lubrication requirements?
I often see people saying use products which meet manufacturers spec but ignore their recommendation of UTF in the front axle in lieu of gear oil. I have used the UTF in my front axles just like what the manufacturer recommends with never a problem.
