Are ATVs/UTVs overpriced?

Listen to your wife! lol

I like different things; the things that don't necessarily make the most sense often bring me the most joy.

Would a side-by-side likely offer more comfort, and perhaps a little more versatility? Probably; but they don't speak out to me the way an absurdly long ATV with a dump bed does.

She can't complain though, she brought a Subaru Baja into our life, like a weirdo. 🤣

I thought I would never own one either way overpriced bought a used Yamaha Wolverine 850 SxS liked it for the most part but was too hot in the summer with the cheap zip up doors that seemed like they wouldn't last. So I sold it 5 months later during Covid and made a decent profit. Then I meet the neighbor when out walking he was in his new Polaris 1000 told me about them having a $1000.00 military discount.

I went to the dealership and ordered a new Polaris Northstar 1000 xp premium thinking if I didn't like it I would just sell it. When I picked it up at the dealer 8 months later he said I could get $5000.00 more than I paid for it with all the crazy delays Covid caused. I really considered it but after owning it glad I didn't. So handy around the yard and perfect for going to recycling. We like to jump in out of the blue and go for a ride or get ice cream.

Unless size is a consideration, IMO, the money is better spent on a pickup truck
I disagree, a P/U will get limited by terrain far more often.
I don't really require extra passengers or high speed so my 4-Wheeler, ATV, UTV need is solved by my B7610 and M4700.

I totally understand that!

I needed something to get around on my 26 acres and haul wood out of with my smaller trailer in tow. I also needed to make trails through my newly acquired property and knew that a 4 wheeler would be the most nimble of machines.. The deciding factor for me choosing an ATV over a SxS was that I thought I would haul it around to my sisters or friends property to trail ride with them and I didn't want to break out a big trailer to do so. What I discovered is that I NEVER take the ATV anywhere. :ROFLMAO:

The ATV is extremely useful for getting around my woods on. It will turn on a dime and fit between most trees easily. It has a tow capacity of 2K pounds so it does very well there. And it's fun for me to ride around on by myself. I am on it every single day and even use it for lawn chores such as pulling my aerator etc. But, put the GF on the back and the fun stops there! She's very uncomfortable on it and says she doesn't feel safe. So, she ultimately NEVER goes with me. She's been on it maybe 4 times in the 9 months we've had it. We did end up buying a second Honda Rubicon so she will take it out on occasions but it mostly just sits unused. But she likes to be outside with me all the time and I know if I had bought the SxS she would venture back into the woods with me more often. The bed on the SxS sure would be a whole lot more useful too. In the end, I do regret my decision but that's life. I am considering selling it and buying a Honda Pioneer very soon.

We all have what we like and what works for us. ;)

We used trucks for years but no more. With our atv we get to more places we need to work at and get there more quickly all while getting up the soft dirt less. Do we need pictures here?

@ArlyA Did you just call for pictures? lol

It looks small but that's a 5x8 trailer behind the ATV....

Do you travel the entire distance in the ATV or do you trailer it there?
