I can understand why some make what I consider a mistake of having a second family many years after the first are grown.
Hmmmmmmmm, our youngest is 16 years younger than the next to youngest! I sure don't REMEMBER any planning involved. Sure was fun though. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Wouldn't trade him for anything, wouldn't want another like him either! He can pull Dad's chain real easy! /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif I shouldn't let his mouthyness get to me, but it can/does. Kid's got way too many smarts for his own good.

I'm one of four...Johnny, Jimmy, Jerry and Jeff. Ages 60, 56, 52 and 39. There was also no planning when it came to me. I hardly even know my oldest brother due to my dad taking a job out of state when I was four. I do, however, know people who did the second family thing on purpose. I'd like to think it would be a good thing to have some freedom from the responsibilities of child rearing at one time or another. Of course these days many will also be raising their grandchildren so it could turn into a hat trick/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.

All I can say, is our oldest four are a year or so apart (longest spread is 18 months). We were at a point of discussing our 'future' of being able to travel, etc. A couple months later, the spouse comes out with a 'Guess What?'. All I could say, is if its a girl....don't want it! (would've anyway, but our two youngest girls were a total handful) Luckily, another son! What am I saying? He was another 20 year sentence! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Good kid, smart as a whip, and twice as mouthy! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Seems to go with the territory on the smart ones...but his oldest sister is very smart also, w/o the mouth.
She's 32, almost 33 now, and to be honest, he doesn't really know the oldest three, but the youngest daughter dotes on him. So she makes up for it....kinda.

My folks had 6 kids. I have an 18 month older brother, an 18 month younger brother, 10 year younger sister, and twin brothers 19 years younger than me. Mom had kids in school for 33 straight years. It was quite different for the twins growing up than for me. But times were quite different also. Main difference was that dad died when twins were 10 years old.

My family was the other way around; all the kids came close together. I'm the eldest of 5 and the youngest is only 6 years and one month younger than I am./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

No, Actually, I think I'm glad. I've seen some of the fathers out there, and I don't think I want to grow up like them. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
