Not always, but sometimes….

In 2013, bakery owner Dominique Ansel created the pastry out of dough similar to that of a croissant (a pastry that he had been more familiar with) with flavored cream inside. The Cronut was introduced on May 10, 2013, at Ansel's bakery, Dominique Ansel Bakery, in New York's SoHo neighborhood.

Any new discovery that makes life better for one man, another man will find a way to use it to make life worse for another.
That is not necessarily true! Many discoveries are positively enhanced by other people for the benefit of mankind.

Discoveries are neutral. Good or bad depends on how they are used.

Guns are used by good people or good purposes. They are used by bad people for evil purposes. By some studies, the good use far outweighs the bad.

Even the atomic bomb saved millions of lives. Evil people will find ways of plying their trade as well as good people.

With the OP's images comes to mind that we survived the Cold War without anyone pushing the button! Almost amazing!

And many more are enhanced by others to do harm to mankind. Im trying to think of one thing that has bettered mankind where someone else has not used it for the opposite.

I think Discoveries are great, Ideas are also great, uses for ideas and discoveries may be good today, and not good in years to come, or not good today and wished we did it in years to come.

Take the case of population growth, land use, water resourcses and electrical resources and impact of discoveries, ideas, and uses of such.

Times and needs change. Population growth was important when humans were scarce and potentially eradicated. In current times, probably less so and the danger may be the opposite. However, just because a politician or bureaucrat claims something is a problem does not necessarily make it true.

Some inventions were great and then MADE by a handful of people to be EVIL.
Take DDT for example. DDT saved 10’s of millions of people from dying horrible deaths from malaria and other insect transmitted diseases. However, a few very determined environmentalist crusaders got it banned.

DDT never killed one person, but DDT saved 10’s of millions of lives.

A mosquito was heard to complain
That a chemist had poisoned his brain.
The cause of his sorrow
Was Para-dichloro-
Diphenyl trichloro ethane.

We don't need things like birds and fish.
yep, they’re more important than the 10’s of millions of DEAD HUMANS. :ROFLMAO:

Not even close to seeing the extinction of birds & fish due to DDT.

Try some unbiased (other than google, snopes or other environmentalist publications) reading. You might learn something more than the lazy ”science”

No, tampons were weaponized when they became superduper absorbent. Toxic shock. ☠️
