The tire post reminds they did a collection about 20 years ago. There was about 4 tires dumped in a deep culvert not on my property but close. I climbed down in there and dug them out and turned them in. I don’t want to sound like a martyr but I’ve done a lot of bicycle riding lately and you notice a lot more things when you travel at 14 mph instead of 50 mph.

Here is sort of an example:

When we (I) moved out here about 50 years ago, we were in a Rural Water District....with small lines and not much pressure.

Then the suburban sprall came along and our district was taken over by a big company. The old rural district had one man for maintenance. He had a truck....a trailer....and a backhoe.....and a shovel. Now, when there is a break, a quarter of a million dollars worth of trucks and equipment and six guys show up. ????

Cheers,
Mike

I bet your water bill didn’t go down either. In a way we are lucky, the population in our area is pretty static.

Several years ago my wife saw a very large woman fall as she was sitting in the line at the bank drive-thru.

She could tell the woman was so large she couldn't get herself up under her own weight. Behind her she saw a couple men in a pickup truck sitting there laughing at the woman. Wife got out and helped this woman up.

She came home very mad. She said what is wrong with people.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who just weren't raised right. I'm thankful I was, my wife was, and both my boys were.

I don't buy the fear of being sued. Too many people are selfish and lazy.

I suggest that how you were brought up corresponds to how you respond to situations. I was raised on a dairy farm in a rural area. High school I went to had 35 kids in my class. So, people had to learn to do for themselves and help one another. Things you learn when young follow you thru life.

In my case the older I get I'm seeing younger rather pay than do,also very smart to have insurance when doing for those seem shady etc.

Priced stuff lately ? Truck, trailer & backhoe alone easily hits quarter of a million dollars.

If I damage anything with my backhoe it could be inconvenient to neighborhood evacuation… as in damaged underground utilities…

You are right about that, my figures are outdated........

But we do have better water pressure and and a fire hydrant too.
