@ CADplans I love that 584. It is a sweet tractor with the MFWD!! I love the 66, 84 & 86 series IH's, heck I love all the other series too!

Apologies for the distraction from the Original Topic.

Me too.

I wonder if the OP's tires are some kind of hybrid tread design. Never seen a pattern like that before.

Doubtless, the lug pattern must have contributed to the cracks in the lugs.

Based on one pic,,,, I'll go out on a limb here. It appears the gash in the center is damage from spinning on something sharp. It intersects the lugs in a different position with each one as if it weren't quite straight with the tire. The last lug you can see in the background of the pic barely has a mark on the leading edge versus the one in the foreground that is ripped apart.

The basic tread design is definitely unusual.

I don't understand why the tread is broken at each lug. Any one speculate on that cause.

Optical illusion. The "cut" or "break" is the mold flash on the tire body, not the lug. It got me until I unfocused, then refocused on the photo in post 1.

That's what I see too, but same as you I had to look twice. Now I can't see what I saw the first time :).

I kept hearing you guys say the tread looked strange, but I think once you look at it correctly it's pretty normal.

What about the sidewall cracking, and dry rot (second photo)?
These appear to be 15 year old tires (2001 Kubota) suffering from significant dry rot.

On my computer screen they look like cracks sometimes and mold flash sometimes, depending on how my eyes focus on it.
