Funny how it has to be science fiction, or "conspiracies". How about strategy, or relying on the fact that most of us are too busy and ignorant as ****. I happen to live right here on the bakkan and see about 30 guys form engineers to roustabouts a day the info is much less filtered.
They also have the Three Forks hit but that will take some technology, existing technology, but increased cost so for now they go for the simple stuff and they are drilling and putting wells so fast here we actually have a weekly radio update like ESPN's basketball scores as to how many have come on line and where.
Meanwhile out here on the interstate which I drive a ton there are more huge wind power components going down the road than you can count. Huge fields go in and all you ever hear its less than 3% of the energy we need. Really? The Judith Gap system alone can power Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming...now its true we don't have any blue spots in those states and that isn't how it is distributed, but when you think about it...that is not a laughable achievement.
Long standing doctrine...use their's, then we will use ours.
We get the vast majority of our oil from Canada for around 15$ a barrel. We have most of Texas simply capped off. Verifiable and known...and no...I am not going to dig the data out for you...but here is a hint...go to college with a Wild Catter from Texas's son and figure out what you can learn.
We only get less than 9% of our oil out of the Middle East...that is not why we are there, but I truly believe our statesmen are out of date...catch the latest Cspan interview of the dude that worked in the think tanks and observed why we do what we do.
In the end, if you want to have an impact use less, walk more, put in modest alternative systems at your house that at the least can feed back into the system.
Last but not least until we get commodities traders out of food, water, and oil we will constantly be on the brink of war...or at least giving these silly bastards an excuse to bleed the blood of our your sons and daughters.
