Go to google, type in "how is oil formed", and prepare for a lot of reading material.

They are trying to determine where it is coming from, but some are looking into the possibility that volcanic action deep under these oil fields is somehow producing new oil. Then oil, natural gas, nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, antimatter, vacuum energy (oh, better not talk about that yet). We adapt because we run out or we find something better. We will continue to adapt unless we give up.
