Are you still using a land line ?

we have land line no cell service for several miles either way you go. we spoke with the cell company's about giving them a place on top of the mountain to put tower. they said no thank's there is not enough traffic to justify a tower. our land line suck's we have dsl internet but century has over sold it and if my wife or i need to do anything important we got to get up early in the morning or real late at night. but that's the price you pay for privacy and im good with it.

And kids with cell phone drive me nuts. Last week, we had some city friends visit our farm with their 12 year old son. He played with his phone the whole time we were showing them the farm, he couldn't care less. When we pointed out a fox running across a pasture, he was still playing with his cell phone, and his father took it away from him. He told the kid that they came for a visit to see nature and the kid was just playing with his phone, The kid shrugged and started whining for his phone back.

I find this sad....just like when I see a farm or woods turned into a housing allotment. You hope something "clicks" in some kids and they develop an appreciation of what they missed.

Lutt...I tried Internet thru my Directv dish and it was really slow, no improvement whatsoever over a landline with DSL, and I live on the very fringe of DSL service. That is my only real issue with living in a rural area, being saddled with slow Internet access and I HAVE to pay for a landline although I never use it (hearing loss) for voice calls. Cell service via Verizon is also only fair. Three miles directly west of me my Droid has a full 4 bars of 4G coverage...here I barely have half a bar at most. SUCKS !!!

Thanks for your input about that,there is 2 people I know now that is not crazy about dish internet. My renters are the others, they said the same thing you did. I am also on the edge of land service,may have to go to a land line for the internet. I am also on Verizon Wireless which I dont have any issues,but when my last air card went kaput,it was still under the old alltel contract,I lost my unlimited use,down to 4 gigs a month now with 2 lines sharing that,my daughters smart phone and the air card,it gets close every month for use.I am thinking whenmy wife.other daughter, and I get smart phones.we will probly eat that up. So I am seeing getting internet piped to the house a better option. THANKS LUTT
