Here are some pictures I took today of the smoke from Tucson... as the bird flies, the fires are about 5 miles from where I live... on this photo, I was about 30-40 miles out.

This is what I can see outside of my house in the foothills.

Last one... this looked like something exploded since there was dark grey smoke at the base of it. Much closer to the mountains.

Muhammad, I've been watching that on the TV news as well as on the Internet. Sure sorry to see something like that happen. We were up at that ski lodge one day in January, 1990; very pretty area. Thanks for the pictures.

I've hiked those Santa Catalina Mountains back in the late 1970s. Very pretty area and I regret to see now the devastation these fires are causing. Trust you and your family are out of harm's way. Sincerely hope that fellow TBNer Jim Youtz up in Show Low escapes this blaze that hit him last summer.

Well, since I posted the earlier photos, the fire has progressed quite a bit, and has been moving down the mountain. Last night, it came down quite a bit. By morning it was almost halfway down.

Here's a photo of the smoke the day before yesterday, taken from my 'subdivision' ...

And now a look at the fire at night.

And a slower shutter. It's hard to capture the true effect of the glowing smoke at night.

In this one, the red lights toward the bottom of the picture are cars on the road. That's the last major road that runs parallel to the mountain.

Great pictures, and a bad situation; hope they get it under control soon.
