Bloodmeal will keep them out of your shrubs... course.. then they just go some place else to bother someone else...

An air rifle works too.

Better yet, build a large catapult, and lob them at that annoying neighbor down the road. :D

That was funny....but they get real aggitated if you try to pick them up and are carriers of some bad stuff as well....funny to visualize a flying 'dillo.

Where do you buy bloodmeal? I use a product made out of that to keep deer out of my Xmas trees, but it is expensive.

Easy solution.
Just get ya one of those $20 animal traps and some 4 X 4's and make a funnel to the trap them from their normal path and ya got them..
so they will follow the angled wood to the trap. They are like a wind up toy and will go with the least resistance in your trap
And TSC has them on sale now :D

12 gauge, bird shot to the head = headless armadillo. It really won't bounce off the shell unless you are quite a ways off.

You can get to within 10 feet, easily. Have fun with target practice. :)

If you do trap some and have a pond nearby, you can fling them into the pond. Never fear, they hold their breath, sink to the bottom, walk out the other side of the pond. Amazing to see.. armadillo splash, ripples die down... all quiet..time passes...suely drowned by now.... far side of bank, out crawls the armadillo:eek: And, now you get to trap him again. What fun!:D

Thanks, I'll look around here. I didn't know you could buy the stuff just like that.

Yep.. I almost think it may be a bovine-derived product. Do heed my warning about nose covering.. whether that is your shirt pulled up.. a dust mask or hankerchief.. etc.. the stuff is putrid smelling.. lots of amonia in the red dried blood powder.. etc.. I'd advise gloves too.

The brand i buy is 'hi yield'

I never thought about the bloodmeal being any nastier than any other fertilizer. I used to spread it with a little hand held broadcast spreader around the perimeter of my vegetable garden to keep the cottontail rabbits out of the garden. I'm not sure how much it helped but a neighbor had told me it worked and it apparently did help.
