I think I killed one with an .06 at deer camp one year. I say I think I killed him because I had trouble finding enough pieces to make a proper identification.:D (Wouldn't recommend this method for populated areas however.)

'Dillo's are just starting to appear in my area...

I think I'll take armadillos over all the skunks we have around here. Getting the dogs cleaned up is getting really old... .22LR works wonders on skunks... it stinks for a few days, but they don't come back.

My dog usually kills or runs everything out of the yard. Last week we had one of things in the yard & the dog just looked at it as if to say what in the world is that thing !! After a few min the thing ran off. My 1 st. time seeing 1 around here or anywhere up close. They run can faster than I ever thought they could!!

What part of Illinois are you in? The wife and I were in Branson Missouri this summer and I told her I saw an armadillo along the side of the road. She said I was seeing things, but if you are in Illinois there is a good chance I saw one.

Troll them out into the highway, they jump up when a car tries to straddle them. Gets them every time. :D
Here in AR you see them all over the place on the roadsides, or as road kill, still in the road. A funny thing I saw was one on the roadside laying on its back and someone had put a cola bottle in its paws. :) A 22 will work just fine if you have enough space between you and your neighbors.

Such a photo made the e-mail rounds about 3 years ago, if I remember right, and since then I've seen two in the median of city streets, except it's a beer bottle instead of a cola bottle.

Similar, Jim, except it's supposed to be a long neck Bud.:D And what are you doing up this time of night? Hope it's not because you're coughing too much to sleep, as I am.:(

Just surfing the net, my wife bought me a new GPS and this has lots of features and I'm reading all about it on gps sites
