Hey Henro.

Let me ask you this then. Right now it's how the window is mounted not the material. It's factory and no other way to mount. The reason for plex is price and the individual who suggested it said a 1/2" peice of plexi would do the trick in his opinion. Do you think at that thickness it would work??? Thanks for the info. Robbie, I was wondering if either I/2 inch plexi or poly would have stopped that tree? Also How long do either last in the sun? I heard that they have to replace bullet proof windows pretty frequently.

Hey Chris. That's hard to say. To mount a thicker window it would have to be bolted to the outside of the door. My window is mounted inline with the door frame so no real resistance against material pushing in. My issues have come up with larger material hitting the window and pushing in out of the seal. Now a weak spot on ASV's in at the top of the door, where the headlights are that piece across the top is plastic. That is where the tree made it's most dramatic entrance. I plan to fab a piece of angle to mount over this section to protect the lights and against trees.

I've only had my tractor for a year and the door replaced once already from the wreck. So I'm not sure how long they would last. At the rate I'm going I'll have to replace before it wears out. I was planning on making my own window but after seeing how beefy a real forestry door is I think I may go that route. I like the added saftey.
