ASV No Longer...

Not sure thats a smart marketing move, but just my .02 cents. If I say to someone I have an ASV and they are in the construction/forestry business they have a clue what I'm talking about...but if I say I have a Terex track loader they might think dozer, etc...ASV seems like a niche- marketed product...

speaking of marketing- I was shocked to see an ASV ad on my local ABC affiliate this evening during the 6pm news...was sponsored by the local dealer, MB tractor- even had a shot of a PT-100 with a mulcher on it wacking a 4-5 dbh beech tree...

Is it anything more than a name change? When we got married my wife changed her name but best I can tell it is still the same girl. Kinda like Hydro-Ax switching to Prentice. Nothing major changed...just paint. Unless they drop ASV brand completely.

I hope they ad washer fluid For the windsheild. My ASV could use a a wiper blade on the inside . The dust is just as bad on the inside.

Isn't ASV and Cat together? I wounder how that would work out. Terex sell undercarriages to Cat.

No Cat sold it's shares in ASV. Cat is also moving away from the ASV undercarriage and towards it's newly designed "bobcat looking" one. I like the new system. I would have originally liked a wider track but after watching and running one it works good.
I like the fact that they might change the color alone. Any color would reflect radiant head better than black. I painted the cab on mine yellow to help in direct sunlight.

I read it in the public release after the Terex/ASV merger that CAT renewed their agreement with ASV for undercarriages until 2012. I can't remember where I read it but it was public information. It might be on the Terex or ASV website in their public announcement information.

I owned a 4810. the track systemwas smooth but was not made for the woods. The rubber rollers would get chewed up. I was just at supertrack and cat is using the same system but has replaced the rubber coated rollers with steel rollers, now that should be nice!!!!!!!

I went to an auction Monday. There were alot of people [more then i think i have ever seen]. and the money was flowing. The had a Cat 287 i think it went for around $20000. I know that is a good price but for the auction i was at it seemed a little high.
There was 2 Case 1845c one had 7000hrs and the other had 12000hrs they went for $7000 each. They also had a Cat 216 the pump let go before the bidding started. [there was a guy telling people not to start it] It went for $8500 i would imagine a pump would be a couple of grand.

Still looking for a SS.
