Good deal on the brick .

Regarding your dump run, we took all the left over drywall and worked it into the topsoil pile we had. After a year or so, between the grass and time you can't see any of the bits of paper, etc. The gypsum helps balance the acid nature of the eastern clay soil. And since that is heavy stuff, you save on dump fees. You also get seat time with the FEL to work it in. I'm sure others will chime in if this has worked for them.

Once when I was sailboarding, I got into an area where the jellyfish were red (stinging) not white (just jelly). I fell down. I can vouch as to the analgesic effect of ureic acid (a base) on jellyfish stings. Once I was back on the board, application of "medication" was straight forward but a bit awkward. Slight body rotations were required to work with the wind, but no changes in my sport clothing were required. Alleviation of symptoms was immediate. Subsequent falls in less hazardous areas effectively removed any unused product. Floatation equipment and UV protective clothing prevented stings to the torso area. Thankfully, I had no stings on my face .

Any dump run can be enlivened by Arlo Guthrie's classic 'Alice's Restaurant Massacree'. It's 18-1/2 minutes long.

For you younger TBN'ers who may not have heard it, I recommend it for the laughs and some insight into the 1960's and early 1970's. It seems some of the same anti-establishment sentiment is coming around again.

More brick. The last picture shows how they make sure the end of the bricks at the corner all line up.

That was informative.....My hornet bite really itched for three days, and stayed swollen for two full days...Of course I scratched it repeatedly, and it also broke out in a rash four or five inches up and down my arm....I imagine this is because I scratched it....I also think this is in reaction to being stung each week for the last three weeks......I`m very leery right now......Can you imagine what would happen if they were fairly large? Death imo...Tony

My brother (who is no longer with us) used to play it really well on the guitar. Every Thanksgiving, he'd get a handful of offers to come play it and eat for free.

Great song. Watch out for those on the group W bench.

You mean the 27 8x10 full color photos with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one describing what it means..."

and
"Yes sir officer obie, I put that piece of paper underneath all that garbage"

We play it every thanksgiving, my kids know it. I used to be able to quote the whole thing.

I would just take more smaller loads to the dump to keep it under the 2k limit.

A lot depends on the "other costs" of a dump run.

I usually take someone with me, to help unload and help if there is any trouble on the road. (I have had this happen.) If this is a paid helper, the money to dump can be partly offset by the cost of the helper.

The second issue is how long does it take? My dump is 30 miles away. 45 minutes each way. I have a dump trailer so dumping time is only 5 minutes. Obed's looked like it needed to be unloaded by manual labor. An hour unloading, and suddenly you are looking at 3 hours for a dump run. Might be worth something, especially in the midst of construction, when your time is at a premium, to make one run instead of two.

Of course, I am well into my geezer years and don't have the strength I once had.

Obed -

Couple of questions....

Do you have other subs working in the house to make progress on the plumbing/electrical? Or are you working one sub at a time? (brick)

And, what inspired your decision to go with brick exterior.....and are you bricking the entire house? I realize brick is essentially maintenance-free, but it also comes at an added cost....I'm curious what it adds, another 10 or 20% to the cost of the house over conventional siding?

I'll be building in a few years, and am debating brick/stone/stucco/vinyl.. ....unsure which way to go.

And, how's the cat doing?

My sister had Alice's Restaurant on vinyl. I had it on 8 track!
