Today my wife unboxed the screens and put them in all the windows on the main floor. It was a warm day so we opened all the windows. We have been opening the windows some during the past week but have had to close them at dusk to prevent bugs in the house. However, it is nightime now and the windows are open tonight. Temps will be in the mid-50's tonight so we'll leave our bedroom windows open. I'm looking forward to that. Soon we'll be able to hear the night creatures in the woods from our bedroom. We have some owls living around here. Also, we have a lot of frogs in the woods that strike up quite a chorus. Occasionally I've heard a wood thrush singing. Wood thrushes make my favorite bird songs; they make sounds like a flute, very tranquil and soothing.

After work today, I did some maintenance work on the storage trailer in preparation for selling it. The roof seams needed resealing. I wasn't finished by supper time so my wife and little girl ate without me. When I came in later, I got to watch my wife play with our daughter while I sat at the table and ate my supper. I smiled with happiness as our girl showed excitement and made those joyful baby sounds that I know I will miss when she gets older.

Today was a very good day.

Thanks everyone for helping me celebrate selling the camper. Having it gone sure changes how the property looks when I go out of the garage. It looks much better being able to see the trees and hillside on the other side of where the camper sat. I'm really looking forward to how that area will look once the storage trailer is gone.

Yesterday someone looked at the storage trailer and made an offer. He was a little low so I told him no. Somebody else is scheduled to look at it tomorrow. This guy is driving 4 hours from Alabama to see the trailer. From what I'm gathering, trailers 28 feet long are much harder to find than the 20 foot and 24 foot models so people are calling me from out of state. The fact that the trailer is 28 feet long seems to make it stand out some from most of the available trailers for sale and is causing some interest. I talked to someone else today who wants to look at the trailer but cannot do it until Saturday. He asked me to call him Friday if the trailer is still available.

4K for your trailer is a very good deal. I paid 6K for a 30' footer, and that was a good deal. I bet it won't last past this weekend!

congrats on selling the camper. When I built I considered either a mobile home on the lot while I built, or building the garage first with living space above, then moving in and building the house. My wife nixed them both, so we ended up renting a house a couple miles away. The house was small, no AC, smelly, not the best to live in with a baby at the time, so it gave me good incentive to get the house built as quick as possible. Course the real incentive was the bank breathing down my back, they only gave me 6 months, and I got a couple 1 month extensions. My wife used to bring my oldest over as a baby, put him in a playpen, and she helped me stand pretty much every wall in the house. Building your own house is a lot of work, but memories you never forget.

This past weekend my wife built a really hot fire using small dry wood. The fireplace got so hot that the heat duct that runs from the fireplace to the hallway ceiling got very warm and set off the smoke detectors. I went into the attic and unscrewed a piece of OSB so I could inspect the b-vent double-walled duct that runs to the hallway ceiling. The insulation company did not do a great job installing the rockwool around the b-vent duct so their was blown insulation touching the hot duct. I believe the warm insulation touching the duct caused the smoke detectors to go off.

Today my wife and I worked on a miserable task.

We re-did the rockwool around the b-vent duct that supplies heat from the fireplace to the hallway ceiling outside of the bedrooms. Please note that this duct is not a chimney duct. The rockwool is the green material shown in the pictures that surrounds the heat zone duct running from the fireplace. The purpose of the rockwool is to create a physical barrier between the potentially hot duct and any combustible material like the blown insullation. The insulation company had loosely placed the rockwool around the duct but did not tape it or strap it around the duct resulting in places where the insulation was touching the b-vent duct through the open gaps in the rockwool. BAD!

We removed all the rockwool, cleaned the insulation off the inside surface of the rockwool, and reinstalled the rockwool. Originally, we were using foil tape to run around the outside of rockwool to secure the rockwool. However, using the tape was a pain. So I went down to the hardware store and bought some rebar tie-wire. We used the tie-wire to wrap around the rockwool and secure it. The job took a few hours. My hands and arms are very itchy from working in the insulation. However, it was a job that needed doing and I didn't trust the "professionals" to come back and do it correctly and safely.

Monday a guy came out and looked at the trailer and offered $3500 and I told him no. Wednesday, a guy was supposed to drive 4 hours from AL; he said he was going to "get" the trailer. However, Wed. morning he called and told me the trailer was too long to legally pull behind his truck in California, where his truck is registered. His truck is a big rig with a large living area in it. His truck pulling my trailer would be 67 feet long, 2 feet too long.

I had someone come out and look at the trailer today and have an appointment to show it to someone else tomorrow.

Glad to see you took care of this possible probelm sorry it wasn't done right to begin with!! :( At least now you know it's done correctly and you and your family can rest easier knowing there is less of a fire danger!

Funny how often you catch yourself saying that after this project, isn't it? All too common... :confused2:

That just sounds so weird to hear said even if it is true.:confused2:

I agree.

Obed, I usually put the word "FIRM" in my classifieds if I'm at my bottom dollar. That way, the buzzards that want to dicker, well, I just tell them the price is firm. Try to find another trailer like yours for that money. The guy will spend that much in gas lookeylooing.
