At Home In The Woods

Tom, this thing looks interesting. Has anyone tried one of these? Do they work?

I got one at the same time I bought a high pressure grease gun. The gun has a pressure/volume lever and the pressure setting opened up the clogged fittings so I haven't tried mine yet.

Wow! It's amazing how grading will change the look of a place. I found your thread a month or so ago and read it from the start. I was cringing at some of your elevation changes but they have smoothed out nicely.

the grading job looks great! Did you grade or have any level spots in the yard?

Our new house is on a pretty good slope, I just regraded most of the yard for water drainage, and to create some flat spots for gazebo/kids swing set& bonzai,/ firepit, play area, and a flat trail for riding bikes/4wheelers. Just a thought.....

I had trouble with my bucket back hoe joints I was taking the pins out and cleaning them out this "tool" eliminated that I hit the bucket ones before I even try the grease gun and it hasn't let me down so far!

tom
Tom, I might have to get one. That tool sounds like what I need. Taking the pins out of the backhoe and FEL buckets and cleaning them out is a lot of work just to get them to take grease. I imagine that's what the John Deere shop had to do to mine

Frank,
The front of the house is prettly level until you get to the far side of the front porch.

The back of the house at the walk-in basement is fairly level until you get to the retaining wall.

The basement garage end side of the house is level also.

On the basement sides of the house, once you get to the line where the yard ends and the woods start, the grade drops off quickly.

In preparation for fine-tuning the grade around the house, this evening detached the backhoe from my tractor and attached the box blade. It has probably been a year since I have removed the backhoe. It takes so long to take the backhoe off and on that I try to minimize how often I do it. I didn't have any major problems swapping the implements but it just took some time.

Once I had the BB attached, I couldn't help myself and had to use it, at least a little. I fine-tuned one of the water-bars in the driveway that I recently created. The water-bar has been funneling water to the downhill side of the road as it should. However, the water-bar was a little rough to drive over so I smoothed it out a bit with the BB.

I really like using the BB. I enjoy moving dirt with it. The BB cuts into the dirt much better than my toothbarless FEL.

You would be smart to begin to find and transplant `native` flowers...As each season progresses try and locate what you think is particularly beautiful.....We have been trying for a long time and are beginning to see some success....

On a further note, a feeding spot with something like a bit of corn will attract many different fascinating animals, unfortunately including bears....For them a bird feeder is `tops` :) Tony
